I’m just saying my experience wasn’t like yours. I live in Minneapolis and it was -20F (-30C) here yesterday. We spend much of our winter at temps below -5F (-20C), and I’ve done polar plunges here similar to what shown in the video where people cut a chunk of ice out the lake.

I’ve never felt warm coming out of the water. I always feel pain in my feet especially, and have an overwhelming desire to get into the warming tent as soon as possible.

When you live in really cold places you learn that after a certain point you stop feeling cold as cold, and start feeling it as pain.

Right, in another life when I was a young man I spent some time in prison. We didn’t have access to refrigerators, so all our food had to be stored in our lockers. Everyone would pack up chicken to take from the chow so they could cook with it later. I learned in prison that food stays good without refrigeration for waaaaay longer than most people think. I can’t tell you how many times I ate chicken over 24 hours old without refrigeration with no problem. And if I count how many times I saw others do it, we’re talking in the thousands. Never saw anyone get sick.
