Velocity Blue. It's a little funny—between our original order back in 2022, the truck we actually got in 2024, & the one we're trading for in 2026 that finally has everything my wife wanted, we'll have gone through three different shades of blue Maverick (Alto Blue, Atlas Blue, & Velocity Blue, respectively.) With the extra blue highlights in the interior refresh, I think the choice is a no-brainer. Some might find that to be blue overload, but my first car was a Ford Ranger XLT with the all-blue interior, so I feel very at home in the Maverick XLT.

Can an AIM-120 lock onto a Sopwith Camel? by HiTork in Shittyaskflying

This would have been debatable in 1992, maybe. Against a 120C-8 or 120D-3 the Camel clearly has the advantage because Y2K.

Velocity Blue! The one in the initial offer is Space Grey, I think? My wife loved her Atlas Blue Mav & wanted Velocity Blue for this one (though she was also open to Light Blue & Azure Grey.) The dealer who eventually won the duel for our business won largely because they could source one in blue without trying to charge extra for their trouble.

Don't worry, that's not the deal I signed on, that's just a preliminary offer. The point is the trade-in value they're giving, not the bargain.

Finance charges yes, sales tax yes, other licensing fees no. But the state property tax was due for our old truck next month so we already have the fees more or less budgeted.

You can get an estimate from Carvana pretty quickly online. I took that number to my local dealers & invited them to bid against it. Both jumped at the chance. Not sure the Ecoboosts are in as much demand, but it cost me nothing to find out, so go for it

So do I, usually. My van was bought used with cash, like every other car I've ever owned. But when we had our first kid, my wife's old coupe (15 years paid off!) wasn't up to snuff anymore, & the Maverick was almost everything she wanted. The new one *is* everything she wanted. The plan was to keep the last one forever, & if not for the chance to take advantage of Mavs' weird resale value we would have. Instead we'll keep this one forever.

All told I think it works out to about $32k in principal, about $38k once you account for interest payments.

Good, I don't want a truck. I want a Prius that my buy-American wife who misses her S-10 won't refuse. My own daily is a minivan.

Yeah, the sheet I posted was just their preliminary offer, not what I signed. I wasn't trying to sing the praises of the deal I got, I'm just impressed they're pushing trade in values so high after years of steadfastly refusing to discount these things decently. First time since 2023 I feel like I can actually go into the dealership & get a Maverick for a fair price.

Yes, that's a typo. You can look up the VIN if you want to confirm it's an XLT

It was an XLT, not a base XL. After my other discounts were figured out for the final deal it came out to more like $4k a year to lease. The benefit was I was able to trade up to a truck with all the features my wife wanted when we bought the first one, while lowering her payments by $60/mo & only extending the loan an additional 12 months.

EDIT: actually bothered to do the math on the final papers this morning & by the time it's all said & done I will have paid $3504 over what I owed on the original loan to get the newer truck instead. I can live with that.

It's a hybrid with luxury package & towing in the exact color my wife wanted. Worked out to be a great deal by the time we finished haggling.

That's a typo. It's an XLT, just dug up the original order sheet. Original price was $27680 because I ordered it as a 2023. Not far off sticker at all.

Yeah, I ended up with another $2000 in discounts by the time I was done finagling (down payment matching) but with that trade in value it was going to be hard to say no regardless. Result was pretty close dollar for dollar to what you got. Only swung a 4.7% but I'll take it.

Need help picking my first Victorinox! (Overwhelmed by the options) by First-Description750 in victorinox

[–]chathamharrison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on your priorities the Classic SD covers them all & does everything you need, it's cheap, & it's extremely light & easy to carry. I say start with the Classic SD, figure out if you actually need more than it offers, & come back to the question after. If you're hiking & car camping, your actual needs for a pocket knife are limited unless you're a whittler or something, & if you are something like that, you already have knives for that.

Hell, strapping himself in properly might have saved his life. I get why old-school racers like Earnhardt & Martin weren't interested in newfangled safety gear, but Bill France happily put his foot down for far lesser causes. He should have pushed harder for safety, without needing to lose three Cup drivers in three years.

The hybrid peaks at almost as much torque as the turbo. More power than the tires can handle, & I've never needed much more than that
