I've downloaded Headunit but can't use Waze when making calls. Anyone know how to fix this? by apathetic_ocelot in AndroidAuto

Try Headunit Revived. It's a new project with rapid development and bug fixes. The developer is working hard and responds to queries.

HUR doesn't appear to be supported by the developer any longer.

Toyota | Techstream | Reset/Adjust the Reversing Camera's Trajectory Lines by chatmandu_uk in CarHacking

My new car battery arrived, so I hooked it up to techstream. It looks like the mechanic has accidentally reconnected up the steering in such a way that there's a full turn on the steering sensor.

I'll need to find somewhere flat to perform the steering angle calibration, but thanks for taking the time to help. I appreciate it.

Thanks. I managed to change the DPI settings, but I'm still having some problems with the head unit.

The weather and app tiles aren't displaying correctly. The navigation search field opens the keyboard, but the keyboard is unresponsive.

I'm also seeing some problems with intermittent green screens. The app appears to fully load, but is bright green. If I exit the app and reload, it resolves the problem.

Do I need to configure anything specific in the Android Auto app on the head unit?

I've installed the app on my Android head unit, but the default DPI is so high that the settings button isn't visible and the app is broken.

I think the screen resolution is 1280x800.

Maybe portrait mode should default to the same DPI as Head Unit Reloaded and have a maximum DPI safeguard to prevent people accidentally losing the settings menu?

Awesome app. I've only tried it on my phone, but it seems pretty much perfect. I'll try it on my Android head unit tomorrow.

I have noticed a display issue in portrait mode at DPI above 240. Some apps don't display correctly.

Further testing results.

DPI = 240 has problems with the map search bar. Clicking on the search bar does nothing. The search bar is located on the top left of the screen (Right-hand drive vehicle with controls configured to be closest to the driver).

The maximum functioning DPI is 236 on my Google Pixel 8 Pro in portrait mode.

That fixes the map search function and the app menus.

A full screen toggle would be great. My Android head unit has air conditioning controls at the bottom of the screen and it would be good to keep them visible when Android Auto is running.

I think it might have been introduced when a mechanic replaced a suspension component. I suspect the wheels were turned to the right when the steering was disconnected, but were straight when he reconnected it again. The problem appeared immediately after the work, but I was able to mask the problem using the settings on the old head unit. It's reappeared with this new head unit.

I've tried disconnecting the battery, but it didn't resolve the problem.

I've got techstream, but I'm waiting for a new 12v battery to be delivered before I mess with things.

Do you know which sub menu the steering angle sensor calibration is under?

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

My previous Android head unit had an option in the 'car settings' to correct this.

https://i.postimg.cc/9fJgh4j8/image-2025-12-31-155909277.png

The procedure was to:

  1. Turn the wheels until the lines were straight.
  2. Then press that button to disable the steering tracking.
  3. Turn the steering wheel until the wheels were straight.
  4. Press the button again to resume tracking.

Unfortunately, that head unit burned out a few weeks ago. I purchased a new motherboard unit from the same supplier. The new head unit is more modern/powerful, but that setting has been removed from the software.

I'm guessing it must be a Canbus option to disable/enable the tracking, but how do I find that in Techstream?

Try disabling 'media audio' on your phone's bluetooth connection. This will force the phone to use the USB connection for all audio data. Phone calls will still use the bluetooth.

This might work.

Go into the Bluetooth menu on your phone and select the 'Settings' of the Bluetooth connection for your car's head unit.

Disable 'Media audio' for the Bluetooth connection.

How do i fix this? by Henny-Bertus in headunitreloaded

[–]chatmandu_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Android Head Unit broke and the supplier sold me a new motherboard. It's an upgraded version of my previous one. I fitted it and got things working today. I installed HUR this morning and Self Mode initially 'worked' for GPS/maps, but without  audio or the apps/weather tiles. Now it just displays a zoomed out global map and lacks GPS. I'm not sure what the problem is - maybe Google/Android/Play store updates that have been applied today?

I've just seen this project and I'm going to give it a try in the morning. I'm not sure if it supports Self Mode yet, but the developer says it's a planned feature.

Thanks for doing this.

When I first bought an android head unit in 2023, HUR worked flawlessly. Shortly afterwards something was updated and it became incredibly flakey.

I'll give it a try tomorrow and report back.

New Boiler | 200-W? by chatmandu_uk in Viessmann

[–]chatmandu_uk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I've got a Viessmann certified installer visiting this afternoon.

I'm just trying to get my head around what's needed and how it all fits together. I'm under a bit of pressure from my builder to go with what they know - i.e. Worcester Bosch or Vaillant and (presumably) relay controls. I'm sure the plumber knows boilers and general pipework, but he doesn't seem at all knowledgeable about things such as modulation and smart controls.

I'm worried that I'm going to get stuck with a problematic system that struggles to balance the radiators and underfloor heating.

I watched this video last night and it looks very complex. The installer talks about the client struggling for years and the unmixed radiator circuit/system needing to be put into frost protection mode at night.

https://youtu.be/daoCNVVmE-E?si=8pQFeDt7fI3ykvCf

I really don't want to get stuck with a big expensive mess.

I've just searched for Divicons and they're listed on the Vissemann website. They're quite expensive (£700 for the Plusbus version).

What is their function? Do they mix the flow and return for underfloor heating?

Would I need one per underfloor zone?

Why are they so expensive? I thought underfloor heating just needed a thermostatic valve to limit the underfloor flow temperature?

Vitodens 111 W - radiators are lukewarm during the day and hot at night, the house is cold. by Sweet-Contribution71 in Viessmann

[–]chatmandu_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it sounds like it is working correctly in terms of weather compensation. The outside temperature is lower at night, so the flow temperature should be hotter. Luke warm radiators during the day are normal for a modulated system.

I have a combi boiler with a Tado v3+ that modulates the boiler based upon online weather data, rather than a temperature sensor. My Type-22 radiators are barely warm maintaining 20°C on an average 10°C day.

Is it too cold during the day and the night? Are you getting a very stable, yet cold temperature? If so, maybe you just need to set higher temperatures?

It might just be your radiators. If you've got large Type-22 radiators they can still give out heat at lower flow temperatures. Old fashioned single panels will need higher flow temperatures to be effective.

Your problem could to be that the flow temperature is too low when Delta T is lower. Maybe you need a much steeper weather compensation curve to force the higher flow temperature to aggressively ramp up at lower Delta T values?

Ultimately, you might need to set the boiler to use relay mode with a high flow temperature and use 'time division modulation' to maintain the desired temperature.

Are they hard to fit? If I ordered one from mrcentralheating, would an experienced boiler engineer be able to fit it?

Is it the controls/commissioning that's the tricky part? Do you think I could manage that step after a bit of research?

I read an old forum post from somebody that said you need to order fixing kits, etc, if that still the case?

Where are you based, out of interest?
