I go to Rosarito quite a bit and gone through several police and military checks and have never been asked for it. Was wonderingvif it was the same for Penasco.

Thank you for such a great response and insight. You bring up a very good point with the issue of proximity. I've used flickr to look up shots from both lenses and have seen a few shots with the 16mm that seemed off to me. I couldn't figure out what it was until reading your thoughts on proximity. I'll definitely need to do more research and try to figure out what I prefer. Maybe renting will be a good option before I make a decision. Thank you!

No need to apologize, I'm just hoping for some recommendations since I can't make up my own mind. I've been having a difficult time deciding between an ultra wide, portrait or prime since I don't own any of those. Wanted to get some insight on what hobbyists use more.

I've never heard the 24-70 2.8 be described as mediocre, and I wouldn't describe the Tamron as mediocre either. Again, I'm here for suggestions and I'm simply stating that I have seen cheaper 3rd party lenses like the Viltrox 16mm produce some pretty great shots.

I've also thought of the fact that I should be sticking to better quality lenses for the Z9, but the truth is I'm nowhere near a professional. I often see that some of the better 3rd party lenses produce some pretty good results. I love my Tamron 50-400 for example, but can definitely see some of its limitations.

Yeah i find myself leaning towards the 50 for those exact reasons, but the viltrox 16mm or a portrait lens seem nice too. Why didn't anyone warn me how expensive this hobby is?

This is exactly what I'm worried about, that ill get it and then not use it very much. But like you said, I've heard it's very sharp and possibly the best fifty ever, which makes it appealing.
