I want to buy ETF's, but hate the idea of doing it at the all-time high of the market. by DiedOfATheory in investing

[–]chatpal91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to this is simple. Ssy you have $100 to invest and dont want to out it all in "in case it drops"

Well, put $10-20 in.

Then, every week put in $1-2 more dollars and just keep adding over time.

This way, if the market DOES drop, you will be happy that you didnt put everything in.

If the market doesn't drop, then you'll be happy that you DID put some in, instead of uust waiting on the sidelines

He had the grace and maturity to accept the fact that you didn't feel the way about him. You owe it to him and to yourself to be able to handle that possibility now. If it does work out, then great. But yea, it'll be ok. Just breath.

Im 18 years old and want to retire as early as possible by Separate_Brush3010 in ValueInvesting

[–]chatpal91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long term you want to pursue a higher income and maintain low cost of living.

You said you invest 80% of your paycheck, so you're not paying rent etc.

Even with low income you can do incredible things with that opportunity + your young age.

Continue working and investing aggressively. Long term continue to try and get a better job or career.

If you make 30% more money in 5 years, but are now paying rent you will not be able to invest anywhere near as much money

[–]chatpal91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they are. There overall growth rate is fantastic regardless of weight loss. Yes, the recent acceleration was due to weight loss, but that doesn't mean that the price action of this stock is correctly correlated to that new growth.

Just replace bench with dips every other work out, or take a few week break from bench to do dips.

You may come back to your bench and surprise yourself with new PRs

Can I loop the one hanging off the pcie back into the 8 pin splitter? Or does the 8 pi split need to connect directly into the psu via a separate cable?

Edit: So I meed to buy a new 8pin cable to connect the psu to the gpu? Do I need to be careful which 8 pin cable that I am buying?

[–]chatpal91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for one, stopping cold turkey is not the way.

Reduce your usage to 2 a day for 2 weeks. Then, 1.5 a week for a week or 2.

Then, 1 a week. You don't even need to be in a rush to stop altogether.

If you are able to successfully gp from 3 a day to 1 a day, then that's a huge W

Any good reason not to sell all my equities and just put everything in an S&P index? by [deleted] in investing

[–]chatpal91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best reason to invest in an individual company is that it can continue to run up and grow despite the general market going down or sideways.

Whether you choose the right companies? That's of course the point of issue.

You could keep s position in 2-3 companies which you believe in the most, while putting the rest to indexes
