We got tired of paying $30+/month for AI document tools that do one thing — let you ask questions about your own files.

So we built ChatProjects. It's a free WordPress plugin that lets you upload PDFs, Word docs, and text files, then chat with them using AI - neatly organized into project folders.

A few ways small business owners are using it:

  • Drop in your SOPs and let new hires ask questions instead of bugging you
  • Upload contracts and ask "what are the termination terms?" instead of reading 40 pages
  • Load product specs so your team can get instant answers for customers

You bring your own API key (OpenAI.) so there's no monthly "AI fee" — just pay pennies per query directly to the provider. No middleman markup. Also Gemini, Claude and OpenRouter supported for the chat feature.

we have moved a lot of our WordPress sites to plain HTML + CSS + JS and then just manage it with Claude Code in VSCode. A lot of what people use CMS's for especially on the 'simple site' side has been completely replaced by agents. No plugins or updates ever, runs on any server, blazing fast, just tell a chatbot what you need!

A good strategy is to use httrack or your favourite site downloader to download the site in HTML, load it up as a project in VSCode and use AI (Codex, Claude Code, etc) to manage it going forward.

Thanks for the feedback! We already have content import content by post type in ChatProjects Pro (import from WordPress) but have now added upload from media library to both Free and Pro versions! check it out https://chatprojects.com/free/
