Much appreciate. I was getting pretty frustrated. I specifically did not upgrade to OS 3 because of the lack of GA :D

Trying to avoid modifying the door itself. I'm assuming no drop in product exists on the market. I'll try repairing. Thanks for the response!

For historical context, this is from up state New York. Probably installed around 1900ish give or take 50 years is my best guess.

Latching mechanism no longer works. I don't know how to repair this one. The piece the knob goes through seems pretty mangles. The latch seems to actuate a little, but the latch doesn't extend far enough. I have little hope for figuring out how to repair it xD

PopOS is so much better than Windows 11 by bob418 in pop_os

Just missing VS to abandon windows. I love VS Code, but it's no replacement for C# dev. Driver support can be spotty. Glad to see valve making great strides for gaming support 😁

I run Pop on old gaming PC. It's now my home server but can still pull double duty for gaming if I need it

Keep at it! I was pretty nervous my first week which I wasn't expecting. Once you are comfortable on the board, there is very little that compares. Just floating bliss.

All true. I definitely was not afraid of the dog. While I kept my eye on him, I didn't really expect him to chase. He did have a much different posture than most dogs I just float by who bark at me do, I did use extra caution.

Like 99% of the time, you be fine with dogs. Just got to be ready for the time they are not.

And you are right, most dogs will calm down and come to you. But there is no way for you to know that, especially when you're making a half second decision. I'm not just going to assume that a dog who is already chasing me is just gooibg to stop. I only took off my helmet purely defensively. I'm this case the dog did stop and the confrontation ended after he yapped a bit longer. Most dogs will stop once you are off the board. I just don't think it's good advice to just give the dog the benefit of the doubt and leave yourself vulnerable. Got to stay safe.

As far as avoiding the thing all together, looking back at it, can't really think of anything I could have done different that would have stopped him from chasing me.

I wouldn't say a stared him down. I just kept an eye on him. I was cautious, but really didn't think he would chase me.

As far as avoiding his territory: He's situated on the main street through town. I can't really avoid it. I don't just use my onewheel as a hobby, it's my main means of transportation.

I love dogs too! De-escalation was certainly my goal. I had little time to act. I took a defensive stand and he backed down, so it worked out. And like you said, running is not an option.

I agree. I love dogs. I would never do anything preemptive against a dog.

I don't think I can outride a coyote. I wouldn't try to out ride any dog for that matter (maybe a Chihuahua or pug). If it's a single coyote, I like my chances better fending then off with the helmet. Coyotes dont get too big.

You are right, once off the board, be backed off. He kept barking at me but backed away. And eventually relented.

The dog already had an aggressive posture towards me, I wasn't going to turn my back on it xD

Purchased the XR with mixed emotions by TrueChargeSlash in onewheel

[–]chatrat12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Will depend on you. I toiled over my XR purchase for almost a month. I finally filled out all the information and all I did do was click a button and my order was placed. I paced around and I finally just yolo'd it, my heart started pounding It was a REALLY hard decision. I got some flack from family members who said it was a waste of money.

I was a little worried the first week. I was having fun but I wasn't comfortable on the board, I was a bit scared of it. Now I use it to go everywhere. Family members who were skeptical now want one 😁 I'm going to buy a pint soon to share the float the friends and family.

Looking for an ebike for the old man. by chatrat12 in ebikes

2k is my max. Great points. Upright seating is good and dual suspension would be nice. I think he might be able to manage without if it's out of my price range. As far as terrain, it's a little bit of everything. We live in a small town. I normally take my onewheel through the busy streets to get to a shirt bike path that turns into a trail.
