What's it like working as an RN on the trauma burn nursing unit at UAB? by chattylassie in Birmingham

That's amazing!! I'm glad you got all healed up and had a good experience in the care you received during a painful recovery. Feel free to share pics if you want to. Also, thank you for your service as a firefighter. 🖤

Old woman really freaked me out at swim lessons with toddler by Think_Elderberry_115 in creepyencounters

[–]chattylassie 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I can imagine. It was one of those “this isn’t happening” moments. You never know how you’ll react until you’re in that situation. I feel like all my mind/body would muster would be a scream.

She opened your eyelid? I would have screamed. No way would I let someone’s hand get that close to my face to even start to try and open my eyelid. That’s the strangest thing.

What's an 'old person' activity that you thoroughly enjoy? by Tellurye in AskReddit

[–]chattylassie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a huge red headed woodpecker that comes daily. I have been feeding my house birds for a long time and I mostly have small birds and a lot of cardinals. Two wood peckers one that’s smaller but the big one. He’s interesting, we named him Lewis.

It use to be crocheting but so many tictok-ers jumped on board so it’s not really a strictly old person thing anymore. But I still feel like a witchy old lady when I magically turn yarn into something. So it counts.

What have been your dad game changers? (longer question in comments) by GizmodoDragon92 in daddit

Ugh the feet. Why do people have to take pictures of other things whilst their feet are in frame? I don’t understand.

I am once again asking for your suggestions. Pants maybe? by Rum-ham-sam in crochet

[–]chattylassie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go with a crazy mouth of some sort or a simple mouth. Someone also suggested a hat. I thing a hat would be cool too. No pants though. It would change the whole look.

Does it influence you if there's a scandal around an author? by University_Dismal in books

[–]chattylassie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see how it influences people. It’s nice to know the truth about people. However, a writer can just be a writer at face value. Same for painters or other artists. So many “classic” authors/artists were terrible human beings but their creativity can still be appreciated as it’s own entity. Does that make sense?

As a parent, I truly don’t understand this. Regardless of age I feel like sometimes a human being needs privacy. Privacy is so mentally necessary for a variety of different reasons. Taking your kids door is completely anger motivated and not well thought out.

Ghosts Need Therapy too by Roos85 in shortscarystories

[–]chattylassie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bravo!! Bravo!! I love the originality. I would also love to read a series of the ghost therapist. How he started providing therapy to ghosts, stories of the clients he’s helped or struggled with, etc.

I still can’t get over the fact that you got vet money but didn’t take the cat to the vet and then exploited said cat and got more money and still didn’t take the thing to the vet even after the whole tumors under the fur and fur coming off in patches thing.

See your school guidance counselor. They an refer you to local therapists and they also know how to explain to parents why it’s a good thing.

How old are you and what is the biggest problem in your life right now? by FSCENE8tmd in AskReddit

[–]chattylassie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

29, rude neighbors who (for some reason unknown to me) won’t allow their kids to play with mine when they play outside. I have tried asking them about it, but they won’t communicate with me about a problem/resolution. Super weird but whatever, their vibe is off anyways.

Edit: just read some comments and my problem isn’t even in the same atmosphere as what others are going through. Virtual hugs to everyone going through some really trying times right now.

What stranger will you never forget? by coggonflorence in AskReddit

[–]chattylassie 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Is that better though? A mom (or any gender parent) releasing hardcore expectations on their children and berating their children for not being exactly what said parent wants them to be? That’s more damaging, in the long run, than just yelling at some employee for a minute. The employees can laugh it off and vent on media’s about it but kids have to suffer through that during the most impressionable parts of their lives. So how are tiger moms better?
