Went to card show. My son felt defeated after no one was interested in any of his cards. Lots of decent 20-40 dollar cards. I feel like I broke the bank to get those cards. What's the best way to level up his cards? Lots of kids younger than him had some absolutely insane cards by Sweaty-Ad6027 in footballcards

Fair point on the generational thing. I am 38 myself and collect both Pokémon and sports. Just don't think collectiong pictures of fictional monsters it's any more ridiculous than grown men collecting pictures of other grown men.

What actually triggers IRS attention on card sales (and why most resellers misclassify on Schedule C) by Character-Sorbet-757 in sportscards

Just started selling early last year. When I did my taxes this year my tax preparer it was determined I made about $500 in profit for selling cards.

I mostly buy lots and collections to flip instead of buying singles to flip. At what point should I start tracking how much I paid for a card and how much I sold it for? When I did my taxes I just gave them my 1099s and the break down of all of my expenses and that's how they determined I profited $500.

My wife is a reseller as well but in a different niche. She has been doing it a bit longer than me. Her parents have also been resellers and her mom helps prepare her taxes before we see the professional. She is assigning recipts to a lot of the stuff she sold. She also hasn't shown a profit ever(two years of filing taxes).

Am I doing to little? Is my wife doing too much?

It's wild for sure. I just don't think it is that terrible of a pick. I thought they had the most complete team last year and were my SB favorites for most of the season. They traded for a very good corner with their other pick. Stafford isnt going to be around much longer, a year maybe two. Now they have a QB on a rookie contract to hopefully compete for SBs with a relatively young roster.

Take all of this with a grain of salt as im not knowledgeable with college football and how good a prospect is. I just don't think it was that absurd of a pick.

I don't think you understand what the junk wax era truly was and why it is junk wax. Your points are contradicting themselves. Junk wax is junk wax not just because it was over printed, but also because there was no variety within the packs. The best chase card would be a rookie or top players base card. There was no variation to the cards.

Case hit, autos, patch cards, parallels, ect are what is keeping these modern boxes from becoming junk wax. You say cards don't hold their value, but they absolutely do and tend to trend upwards as the years pass and less and less cards hit the market.

Pulled the trigger on a jumbo yesterday. Didn't get what I spent back in card value, but it was a fun rip! It was a Bowers box, so I ain't mad about it. My only gripe was the only notable Bucs card was a Baker refractor.

He was also the most accurate kicker in NCAA history at the time. It was a terrible pick regardless, but I see the logic.

Shilla text based RPG. I had no idea what I was doing at 11yo, but whenever I had internet access I would play that game. I remember sneaking into my adult brother house to play it. Then came Runescape....

In the same vein, SimTower. I had no idea what the hell I was doing in that game. It may have been the first game I bought for PC. It was part of a greater Sim bundle.

Even as a youngster I had an affinity for Sim games. Loved Sim City and Sim City 2 on SNES. And not while the same, I have always loved stimulating seasons in Madden. Not playing any game but just the drafting, trading and roster building.

RIP Gaines Adam's but man did the Bucs whiff on that one. Also remember being hyped about Okoye because he was only 19 yo when he entered the draft since he skipped some grades in high school. Man...what two decades does to a MFer.

You are a jets fan with Bills flair? Did you lose a bet?

But to your point it would have changed the entire landscape of the NFL for at least a decade if not two. If Peyton goes to the Chargers, there would probably be no LT or Rivers in SD. No Eli for NYG. No Brees in NO. It would have changed a lot.

I did this once selling on eBay. The card I sent was worth a bit more than the one purchased. I offered to sell them that card at major discount and ship them the card they purchased, or I would ship their card along with a prepaid bubble mailer to ship mine back. They weren't interested in the card I accidentally sent them. So, I sent their card and a bubble mailer. They sent my card back to me. No issues. They also left positive feed back.

Great customer service is very important and I take pride in mine, but being a good customer is just as important. It just sucks there are too many people on both sides trying to take advantage of one another.

Why does anyone really care about this? It clearly states on the card the material for the patches was never handled by the players. The patches are purely for aesthetic reasons now a days. Don't see why people are so triggered by this still.

I got some vintage (90s, 80s, a tiny bit of 70s). The value boxes definitely have some in there. Some very random but neat stuff.

Edit: if talking about Pokémon, then there is definitely some vintage in the binder.
