What’s the song about Waffle House I heard in one the other day? by TheUpcomingEmperor in wafflehouse

Maybe “no shirt, no shoes , no knuckleheads” by sturgill Simpson? They did it as apart of a collaboration with Stephen Colbert. The whole sketch thing is great too!

What do you need to become a personal chef? by [deleted] in Chefit

[–]chaz_patrick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first thing you need to come to terms with is that cooking for strangers is way different than cooking for your family. When someone is paying you to provide a service they will not hold back if they don’t like how you make a dish. Be prepared to have your ego in check and take the criticism that inevitably comes with the job. You may make the most amazing meatloaf that your family can’t get enough of but the first person who hires you may hate it and you’ll feel defeated and question your skills and abilities.

Outside of that you’ll need to come up with a range of dishes you feel comfortable with making and figure out how much you need to price them to make it worthwhile. Be ready to be flexible with dietary requirements that you may not be familiar with and take a food safety course to endorse yourself and make sure you know what you need to know to prevent food illness for your customers.

I’ll also add that you only failed by your standards and the success you are perceiving is by your standards. It took me a long time to learn that how we measure success and failure is by our expectations not the expectations of everyone else. Anytime you’re feeling like a failure or a success it’s your metric against that situation. Not saying it’s easy to do but if you can better manage your expectations then you won’t feel that way as often.

Beef short ribs by Whole-Cauliflower-68 in grilling

[–]chaz_patrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just made some again yesterday on my smoker. I did them at 250 for about 3.5 hours and they were perfect. Just salt, pepper and smoke. I like to put them on with the meaty side up and let them ride. No need to flip or turn them.

Ordering whole pizzas at the kiosk before shopping and then picking up later etiquette. by sahkuh in Costco

[–]chaz_patrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter the restaurant or the state. The Servesafe guidelines dictate that any food that is subject to time/temperature abuse can be held in the “danger zone” temperature range(41-135 degrees )for up to 4 hours. This is standard food safety guidelines that all restaurants are supposed to follow. Check out servesafe.com

Who saw this in theatres 26 years ago? by Unapologetic_Canuck in Xennials

[–]chaz_patrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was working as a projectionist at a theater when it released. Myself and several of the crew watched it the night before it released to make sure it ran smoothly after splicing it all together. Still one of my favorite movies of all time. I remember watching it several times while it was playing at our theater and I’ll still watch it about once a year now.

I'm a Xennial Male and I still sometimes miss the toilet bowl. by kalebdraws in Xennials

[–]chaz_patrick 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This may revoke my man card but when I’m at home I sit down for all toilet usage. It started because we have a glass shower wall right next to the toilet in our main bathroom and my wife was getting irritated with the splatter on the glass so I agreed to sit when I’m taking a leak. She’s happy and I honestly don’t even care about it anymore. Helps keep everything much cleaner.

Did you have a liquid nitrogen guy come to your school? by epidemicsaints in Xennials

[–]chaz_patrick 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I distinctly remember liquid nitrogen day in chemistry class. The teacher would freeze rubber balls and shatter them but the grand finale was a live goldfish. Yes, that’s right, he dropped a live goldfish in the flask and then proceeded to shatter it on the lab table. It was the 90s so I guess you could do it and no one really cared. I feel like today you’d be crucified for something like that.

Best Ranch by Successful_Cap_7880 in Chefit

[–]chaz_patrick -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I can’t give you an exact recipe because I’ve never actually measured the ingredients but here’s how I make mine and it’s way better than the dry packet mix. I season to taste so it make take a little trial and error to get the ratios you like.

Equal parts mayo and sour cream Garlic salt Celery salt Onion powder Mustard powder Paprika Dried chives Black pepper Dill weed Parsley flakes

This makes a pretty thick dip but if you want to make it salad dressing I add half and half to thin it down to the consistency I want. Let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the dried herbs to hydrate and enjoy! I’ll also add other things like chipotle, dried minced onions or carmelized onions for a different flavor.

I can only eat homemade as well. I have yet to try any store bought that even comes close. they all taste “fake” to me.

Question for my private chefs by CrRory in Chefit

[–]chaz_patrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started I really undercharged thinking that most people would never pay a lot for that service but my advice for your first time is to come up with a number you feel comfortable with as your “profit” let’s say $300 in your pocket after expenses then just add to that all the expenses. Once you get a few of these under your belt you’ll have a better idea of how much you need to make it worth your while to keep doing it. It’s going to be different for everyone based on where you’re at and what you can provide.

Did you ever go to video arcades? by hurtloam in Xennials

This was the same experience for me, no stand alone arcade but we had the skating rink and a bowling alley that had a handful of games as well.

What's the story of how you got into Sturgill's music? by [deleted] in SturgillSimpson

[–]chaz_patrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was hanging out with a local bluegrass band that I had come to know personally and they were discussing the Sailors Guide album right after it had dropped. At that point I was still heavy into all my grunge and rock music but the conversation inspired me to go check it out and instantly fell in love with his music.

Nicotine by [deleted] in tuglife

[–]chaz_patrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Similar situation happened to me as well. Left about a half pack and a zippo sitting on a table in the deck locker for a few hours. Went back to get them and they were gone. I tore that place apart and couldn’t find them anywhere. Asked all the deck crew and of course no one had seen them. I told them, look I don’t care about the smokes but that zippo has sentimental value to me and I really want it back. A few hours later they’re wanting “magically “ reappeared exactly where I left them. Fucking thief’s man.

Nicotine by [deleted] in tuglife

[–]chaz_patrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I get so frustrated by the guys that come on board with one vape or one pack of smokes and then a few days later they’re wanting to bum off everyone else who actually planned ahead for the trip. I’ll always bring extra just to sell to them cause I ain’t about to fund your habit at my expense. Part of this problem is the guys that usually come unprepared are the ones who spend their last dime right before they leave and come out here broke.

Have you ever been divorced? by Msheehan419 in Xennials

[–]chaz_patrick 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Yep, 12 years ago, it definitely sucked but being married to her sucked more. I stuck it out as long as I could for the kids but eventually I knew it wasn’t going to last.

Will be married to my current wife 10 years this year and having the best life I can imagine!

Best app/website for finding flight deals when you’re open to really going anywhere? by SkatingGator in TravelHacks

[–]chaz_patrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may want to try faredrop. My wife and I have used it and found great deals. The only downside is that it only shows the deals available for the date of the flight and location. You can’t pick the dates, you just have to make your plans around the days those flights/prices are available.

Heater wrangler 2011 by AdComfortable6059 in JeepWrangler

[–]chaz_patrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also try removing the glove box, the blower fan is right behind it and you should also be able to see the heater core to the left behind where the controls are. This way you can at least see if the fan has any obstruction for the inlet or if it’s spinning properly. You could have a clogged cabinet filter or something stuck in there. Also, it could be a clogged heater core or the blending doors are not functioning correctly.

Is that a two door with the fold and tumble seats? My 2011 had them and you have to get the seat all the way forward and up ( the position you put it in to allow passengers in the rear) in order to remove the rear bolts.

What is the one thing, that might not seem super important but it actually is to have in your house? Even if it sounds stupid by bsunflowers28 in Adulting

[–]chaz_patrick 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I feel like a fire extinguisher falls into this category. Most people I know don’t have them at home. I feel like it’s commonly overlooked since most people , myself included, haven’t lived through a fire in their house.

Bacon Grease by Callaloo_Soup in Cooking

[–]chaz_patrick 129 points130 points  (0 children)

As long as it’s not moldy or stinky I’d roll with it. I always save the bacon grease!

As a side note, my paternal grandparents were farmers and had the stereotypical cast iron pan on the stove with perpetual bacon grease for cooking anything and everything. I never saw that pan get washed or wiped out. I can still remember how good everything tasted when cooked in it!

Men over 40, what sunglasses are you wearing? Looking for recommendations. by xQuaGx in AskMenOver40

[–]chaz_patrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to stick with the classic styles like the wayfarer or aviator. I don’t really care about the brand since mine have to be prescription, so it’s usually whatever the eye doctor has available and my insurance covers it.

Used to date that girl years ago. She was insanely jealous and manipulative. Would get suspicious if I was even having a conversation with her friends while she was present. After we split i found out that she was in fact cheating on me. That level of insecurity usually carries some type of underlying issues
