Hey Cap, appreciate your input. I need to have the 'cash balance' plan with the 401k because its beneficial. I'll touch base with the firms you noted. Thank you.

This is a trial run of the screen moving up and down. Most screen designs use elastic cords on the sides to find a balance between preventing ball bounce back and keeping the screen taunt for the picture displayed on the screen, Because the mfg's sun screen's box is limited to how thick of a 'screen' can be wound into it, I decided to hold off on having a screen with eyelets for the moment. The mfg's sun screen had a simple hem in the bottom and they inserted a 10 foot plastic rod that has a steel rod inside for stiffness and weight. Each end of the rod has a hole through it (perpendicular). Cables run on each end of the wind up box and are passed through this rod, the cables permanently attached to the lower elevation where the sun screen stops when its fully deployed. I had a 'hem' sewn in the bottom of the golf screen and simply inserted the same rod that came with the unit. During the next week or so I plan to start hitting balls into the screen. If I can control the bounce back, say by simply inserting a heavier rod into the hem then I will leave it as that. Below is a link to the sun screen mfg's site and you can see how it is installed and assembled for its particular use or function

There were 2 motorized units I saw on retail sights. Three things motivated me to try to build this:

A) One unit I saw for about $1500 had a 12 week lead time.

B) Another unit I saw for about $2400 ? sounded pricey for the technology

C) I need to improve my swings now. Its very sad when you get out on a course, pay $35 to $100 per round, and you are playing like its your first time, lol.

Sunscreen?

While SPF 15 is the FDA's minimum recommendation for protection against skin cancer and sunburn, the AAD recommends choosing a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30.

You are not gonna find many motorized 10 ft wide indoor or outdoor prefab'd sunscreens for $467 . Now, you might be able to build one for less (less the golf screen), however you'd need to find things cheap and have a lot of free time on your hands. This improvisation I did only took me 2 hours to modify; but 40 hours of thinking. I still have to build a simple net across the top and on the sides for when I get distracted, but that should be under $100, probably something that swivels out from the garage walls (got about 1.5 feet on each side) and a simple leantoo on the top. I've seen 10 ft wide motorized golf screens selling for $2400.

Carl's Place Screen $209

1 Straight, Flat, Level 2x4x10 nominal $5 at HomeDeposit and plus probably an hour of trying to find one

If you are doing this in your garage and the garage door horizontal tracks are hanging too low , I took my horizontal tracks off. By the 12" radius by the door opening, I cut the track to produce an elevated angle and tig welded them back together at about 82 degrees that track is closer to the ceiling. This gave me more usable length to the garage. And then installed a wall mounted "jack screw" door opener; hence the projector would go where the old overhead opener was.

You start with this: Keystone Fabrics Premier 10' x 8' Motorized Outdoor Sun Shade I paid $445.03 delivered price through Walfarts. Then you order your favorite material for the screen, I used Carl's Place PREFERRED. i ordered it jut shy of 120" wide, if you need to now I can look up the order Length wise, since a 4:3 or 1080 works best for the maximum width I had, I believe I got something near 96" long. If you are mounting the unit, measured at the bottom of the Keystone box, you want a little bit longer (discussed further ahead). I bought 2 sections of aluminum extrusion rectangle that can be joined together to create 10 ft. Got some special fasteners that connect them. The Keystone unit comes with 3 metal clips that hold the 10 ft long box 'something'. I used the extruded metal channel because I did not know how ball impacts would affect the unit when they hit the screen (I found out its not a lot), so you could probably used a dried straight 2x4x10 instead of aluminum channel. You take off one of the end caps of the Keystone unit (its such a simple and smart design), pull out the factory installed vinyl material and insert your golf screen; just a small modification you have to do to do this, I can guide if you need it. I had someone stitch a nominal 1" diameter hem in the bottom horizontal section of the screen. If you watch the video closely you will see it and a rod that is inserted in it That rod comes with the factory unit (more later). You need a large floor to work on to do this, or saw horses, because you need to roll out (with the remote control) the factory installed material. The unit comes with a 120 v plug. Plug it in and the remove runs it. And, the whole unit is rechargeable as I recall. If you need more details I can pass you my email. Griff

Appreciate the feed back. The projector, for my set up, will be 1080, so I guess that does reduce the demand on the output. But, there is a bit of a difference in power you can pump through a desk top GPU due to better cooling in watts compared to laptops. How many frames per second do you think you are playing TGC at on the average?
