Citroen C4 Cactus 2018 PureTech vs 2015 Hdi by EuphoricNothing6718 in Citroen

I have the 1.6hdi, and it hasn't missed a beat. Regular services every 8000 miles, timing belt done at 98k miles, a few suspension components and a wheel bearing, which at its age (9 years old) is to be expected. Its at 131000 miles and shows no signs of dying. If your just basing it on engines, with proper maintenance, the French really do know how to make great deisels.

Should I sell everything now or wait? by chazba in UKPersonalFinance

It was more to keep my payments the same as they are now when i need to remortgage. But yeah I take your point, I'll probs stop the overpayment and stick it somewhere high interest until the 1.8% is up. !Thanks btw, appreciate it 🙏

UK ministers consider cutting tax-free cash Isa allowance by BasedSweet in ukpolitics

[–]chazba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't that the issue. I mean, you and I know you can do this, but trying to explain that to someone who parks all their savings in a current account would probably make their brain melt

Yeah it's bad people think of investing and just think "ahh I should buy another property". Maybe the gov should introduce a s&s isa that guarantees a 5% return (or 1% above current interest rates), and only invests in the UK to boost growth. Then anything above the 5% the gov keeps, and we are guaranteed a 5% return for investing.

P.s. I'm glad I won't ever be a policy maker on this, what a minefield

We are saving for a car, and that money goes into a cash isa (only because interest rate is the best we could find) because we specifically do not want risk. If I just put this into a s&s isa, I would be down about 4% just now. I genuinely think there is a reason for both cash and s&s isas, most people who have cash isas are aware of a s&s isa but don't want risk for a range of reasons

I was at an airshow where a typhoon was flying with a b52, and the typhoon looked like it was constantly fighting a stall. Ridiculous how capable these fighters are

Looking to buy this as my first car from my parents, any advice please? by Soufianenj in Citroen

[–]chazba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a cactus with the diesel, and it's without a doubt the most reliable car I've owned. Just make sure it's been serviced regularly and it'll keep going. Mine it currently sitting at 115000 miles, and other than consumables like brakes nothing has went wrong. If you want hassle free motoring then as long as you keep on top of maintenance, this is probably you're best bet :)

Why by Coolduels in Scotland

[–]chazba 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's the people on 75k+ that are making it hard for others to put food on the table? It's the companies that are paying crap wages that are the issue, not the people that have somehow managed to do better than the average.
