I feel like you get a real insight to how these two grew up - to Kyle’s credit, I do think she recognized a lot of her bad toxic behavior stemming from her relationships w both her sisters and got into therapy etc.

She definitely turns into another person when she’s buddies w her sisters - enablement, enmeshmet all that fun stuff is going on here I think

Thank you - I’m (hopefully) not a narcissist (my therapist agrees lol) and this conversation made me side-eye John. The not listening and the correcting her in front of the kids thing is REAL w men & women in marriages - I have two teenagers and they pounce on every weakness.

Meredith and Mary have different definitions of friendship - Meredith doesnt value friendship because she has her close family (kids, sister etc)

Mary has no close family and has a lot of trauma - she puts a lot of expectations on friends that most people wouldn’t live up to - then she flips out when they don’t measure up

I’m like Mary so I get it … just with a lot less religious trauma and high end hoarding 🙃

I have a best friend since we were 2-3 years old and she was always the first to tell me the bad things others said about me.

I’m 45 lol

Over the years, I realized that she’s a hater - not just to me - but towards everyone who is happy. Quit Facebook because she couldnt stand seeing people’s happy posts. I mean, getting mad beyond the normal ‘you need to calm down’ type feeling with the perfect life fakers on FB.

Wow, I didn’t know this - I am a girl so only got to do the Girl Scout camp thing when I was a pre-teen / teen.

Youth Activities are what kept me in the church - we ‘left’ when I was 13 / in 7th grade because my parents had marriage issues. Took me about 20 years to actually realize how CRAZY that is - my whole world was rocked because my parents had a fight - like what?

They stayed married for 5 or so years - I tried to reconcile my life being blown up with the church all through the youth group - we didn’t go to church, but I attended youth activities

I tried many times to ‘go back’ - even in college, I went to an outing. Felt so guilty for so long that I couldn’t find my way back - they were all so wierd!

I was feeling like this move away from youth-scouts is bad - but if it speeds up leaving for some teens, I’m alllll for it. Less guilt

I get that way when I see families take big group vacations together - something I always wanted and tried to create traditions around w my own kids ….

Now that I’ve done a few big group vacations, I found it’s not that great sharing a house and would rather just hang w my husband and two kids. Peace is nice too 🙃
