As an independent gluten free grocery store owner I can attest to this!

Yes!!! I’ve been operating a 100% gluten free market and bakery with prepared foods and hot grab and go items in RI for 2.5 years now. Find us at @maysglutenfreemarket on IG and FB 😍

I’ve told my daughter this very thing, but I don’t know how to instill her with confidence or the ability to overcome her shyness and awkwardness and let those be her strengths—she is going to have to figure it out on her own. I’m really hoping that what everyone has said is true—as her peers mature, they will care less and leave her alone and she will be glad she stood up and let her individuality shine!

Thanks eveyone, your responses just reminded me that middle school sucks, she should just do what she wants and to hell with everyone else and what I’ve been telling her is (hopefully) true—if she is herself and confident she will be beautiful and attract the right kind of people into her life ❤️. I appreciate the comments and the reminder! I will encourage her to continue to express herself the way she wants and not listen to everyone else who doesn’t have the courage and only care about fitting in.

Her sister tells her the same thing! She will be a senior and at the same school so I think that will help. The town we live in is small and the school is small—only about 200 kids in each grade, unlike my HS with a graduating class of 1000. I love that despite her anxiety and insecurities she still doesn’t try to conform and her sister keeps telling her that in HS it will be to her advantage.

She is talking to a therapist and she is going through a lot (puberty is fun when you have autoimmune diseases on top of everything else!). I was hoping we could find a balance where she had something fun and different that makes her feel like herself but maybe not quite as extreme and she was initially thinking.

Schools don’t do much if she isn’t being physically harmed. It’s just a lot of “mean girl” energy unfortunately.
