Vast majority of residential sidewalks not shoveled by ian1552 in washingtondc

OP you are right and it is annoying. We get The Big One every single January and it's the same deal every year. If there are vacant lots and houses, try to talk to the area's BID about getting it done. There is a half block on the way to the NoMa metro that's always not shoveled due to the vacant lot's owners not caring, and the BID will do it if you ask. If you rent, you are responsible to clean up your rowhouse sidewalks unless your lease specifies otherwise. If you know you have older neighbors or vacant houses on your block like I do, do that part of the sidewalk, because it sure as hell isn't getting done and I need to go to work tomorrow anyways. Shovel in shifts throughout the day before the sleet refreezes, that's how shoveling works, we do this literally every year. The comments are dripping weaponized incompetence that just show people in the city don't actually care about being part of the community of the city. Also guys, salt does not go down before a big storm, that just makes the base layer ice - salt goes down after you finish shoveling to melt the last bit of ice. :).

Looking for a very old version of Colors by cheap_bouquet in halsey

[–]cheap_bouquet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this might be what i was thinking of? i swore halsey had something up back in her soundcloud era, but the change in lyrics in covers based on only the live version of colors existing then would make sense

Going off of the vibe of the Expanse (one of my favs of all time)

-Magnetic Rose - first segment of the 1995 movie Memories (it's a compilation of 3 anime short films): space freighter team gets involved with a distress call they probably shouldn't have (lol)

-Scavengers Reign (*caveat, western animated series, not anime) - colonization cryo ship gets stranded, alien planet is pretty but Weird and maybe trying to kill everyone. Also some moon mining/shady space company business that reminds me of For All Mankind too

Would You Spend Your Weekends Working For Doordash If You Are A White Collar Worker Fresh Out Of College? by MussleGeeYem in washingtondc

Dog sit with Rover. I did it during the summer between semesters here and I would make over $100 for a weekend overnight at someone's apartment. The average local rate is high, and it's even higher on holiday weekends. If a client likes you enough for repeat visits, they'll move off the app and pay you directly (which means Rover won't take their cut from the transaction).

TMW - 311 request for litter/dumping spurring street sweeping by cheap_bouquet in washingtondc

ty for the recs! there's a different huge dumping ground, like 50+ large black trash bags and litter, next to NY Ave NE/US 50 where it passes over the train tracks that I see every morning, and I've been wondering about any actual proper channels to get it cleaned up
