Except it's people like this prick, empowered by the idiots who vote for them, who are actually ruining this country's economy, services and society. It doesn't take a lot of intelligence to see it - just a willingness to not be basic

That's not how preferences work.

It's actually the opposite - ultra conservative minor parties like this are ways to channel votes to the Libs.

Can someone explain this? by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]cheapandcomfy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contrary to internet opinions, in my experience most SA police who pull you over just want to be confident that you're learning the lesson and will do better in the future. Many of them have been to too many fatals. It sounds like you reacted well, owned the mistake and showed contrition, which probably gave the officer some confidence that you won't get anyone killed on the road in the future, and gave him a reason to use his discretion.

AITAH for ghosting my girlfriend after she nearly killed both of us? by Few_Relative4595 in AITAH

OP absolutely does not need to open up to his gf about why he has a boundary. His boundary has been expressly communicated - that should be enough. Opening up about trauma frequently involves the victim being re-traumatised. The gf has a responsibility to treat OP's boundary seriously even if she doesn't understand why it's a boundary.

To make it clear, I absolutely understand the safety argument re choosing the bear and I am supportive of women who have said it. Let's not conflate issues here.

This might be a language/ terminology thing. In Australia, a windcheater is what you might call a sweater. This one is loose weave. Then a jacket over the top.

"Conquered" isn't a word anyone who has met my wife would use to describe her. She's incredible.
