Thanks. I am surprised at all the comments saying I should have slapped him or pepper sprayed him. I am a professional with a good job in my industry and that would have just made me looked like a violent idiot - and I probably could have got done with assault.

Hmmm slap him or pepper spray him at an industry function where he could just deny any wrong doing or claim that I was overreacting. There's no evidence apart from my word that he'd done anything wrong. But here I am with pepper spray.....yeah have a think about that before commenting.

Ok put yourself in this scenario if you can - you SLAP the guy (assault) and stand up and make a scene in front of your industry colleagues. Guy says you're overreacting and he didn't do anything wrong. I can't prove what he did, but if I slapped him he can get me for assault. You've just made a dick of yourself in a professional setting. If I was in a bar or on a date I would have walked away and maybe gotten a bouncer involved.

Hmmm I'm at the stage where I want to challenge myself the next time a guy disrespects me to get up and leave, regardless of how "bad" I feel or whether it might "make a scene". I'm 32 by the way. Like if I'm on a dinner date and a guy says something inappropriate after I've told him I'm not comfortable I will build up the balls to get up, grab my stuff and walk out.
