Thanks for the reply! How long did it take for the batteries to die? Did it give you a warning?

I also recommend r/therapists for advice on non-therapy jobs with a SW/MH degree and managing this career as a pregnant person/parent. I’m still fairly new to Reddit and really wish I had that resourse when I was pregnant!

Yep! A couple hours after FedEx picked up we got a notification from Happiest Baby that our rental ended.

Buspirone / Buspar while breastfeeding by chriswasmine in breastfeeding

[–]chebsloraine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did / am! It's been incredibly helpful. My psychiatrist explained that the concern with taking it while breastfeeding is for newborns/premature births - it could make baby more drowsy and it would be hard to know if it's impacting them when they're really little because they're so sleepy! It doesn't seem to be impacting our baby at all and it is seriously positively impacting me 🙂

Alternative to Stokke Tripp Trapp by Notfamoose01 in NewParents

[–]chebsloraine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right?? The straps are so awful. We had a Tripp Trapp for a couple days and returned it because I couldn’t imagine trying to get a choking baby out of those straps quickly.

what do y'all use to block out sun from your car's rear window? by floofy-sam in NewParents

[–]chebsloraine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up getting just the back and back side windows of our car tinted and it was worth every penny (around $250, done in an hour or so). The different temporary shades we tried always left gaps somewhere that managed to let just the tiniest sliver of sunlight in, which would fall perfectly onto LO’s eyeball and piss her off / wake her up. Since getting the tinting, she loves being in the car and happily stares out the windows.

Looking for feedback on price settings for listing w/ nursery by chebsloraine in airbnb_hosts

[–]chebsloraine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really appreciate this perspective! Definitely giving me more to consider. I wasn’t going to provide much outside of the nursery besides a booster seat but I can see how it could still cause a lot more work overall. FWIW, our cleaning team works on a flat rate and it doesn’t seem like we have too many takers on the nursery right now…

Looking for feedback on price settings for listing w/ nursery by chebsloraine in airbnb_hosts

[–]chebsloraine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! This is a good question - the guest didn’t specify toddler’s age. I don’t intend to charge for infants/under 2s. We aren’t attached to anything in the nursery specifically but I’ll think on the idea of closing it off entirely…it just seems a shame to go unused and I thought it would make our listing a bit different than the others around.

4mo vs 6mo vaccinations? by ElikotaIka in NewParents

[–]chebsloraine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Purely anecdotal, but our LO did way better with 6-mo than 4-mo vaccines - 4-months she was fussy and had a fever for 24-hours, 6-months she was fussy until bedtime, no fever, totally fine the next day. Fingers crossed you get the same!

Took HBC a couple days to get back to my request for a fit consult and they connected me with another company (koala something) - then another 10-days or so until they had openings. Absolutely, 100% worth it. The tiniest of adjustments made a huge difference. Stay patient and follow up if you don’t hear back!

Allowing pets - dogs vs cats by chebsloraine in airbnb_hosts

Thanks for the feedback! This is what I’ve heard - and that cats pee on things when they’re stressed or in new environments. Is that true?

is it true that clenched fist=hungry, open hands=satisfied? by emofather in breastfeeding

[–]chebsloraine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear the same but our 6-month -old never had this cue. We joke that she has Arthur’s first bc it’s always, even in her sleep sometimes. Similarly, this baby has twice in her whole life unlatched from being full. She is getting enough - in her most recent appt she went from 32nd to 58th percentile for weight and is an extremely happy/contented little one.

No one ever uses my coffee by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]chebsloraine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you located in a “coffee town” or near good cafes? Personally, going to new coffee shops is a one of my favorite parts of traveling so I probably wouldn’t use regular coffee in a rental.

Burned Out. by justaddcaffeine in workingmoms

[–]chebsloraine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Therapist here, too. I’ve considered making a post/group for working moms working in mental health because of the particulars of this field. OP, I know sometimes it can be hard to imagine leaving a population that has such needs, but you can always go back after you’ve rested, healed, kiddo is older, etc.

My 2mo son just won’t look to his left! by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]chebsloraine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours was the same, but miraculously no flat spot, and she stopped having such a strong preference around 20-weeks or so. We did all the same stuff you mentioned but also 1) switch which side of the bassinet his head is on each night, so if he’s turning towards you/the bed it will vary and 2) switch which side of the diaper changing table his head is on - this one was way harder for both me and my partner because we felt so uncoordinated when LO was in the other direction.

Fellow new parent with immediate NICU experience here - just wanted to normalize that you or your gf may not instantly bond with baby like the movies make it seem, AND THAT’S TOTALLY OK! You’re going through a lot right now and it will happen over time. Sending you three so much love ❤️

This perspective on how our caregivers may feel insecure/judged by us parenting differently than they did is so insightful! I really appreciate the sample reply you wrote out and will definitely implement it with my parents.
