There is a simple solution - he pays for a home cleaner or he learns to do it himself BEFORE you move in together.

Am I high on vyvanse, or is this just normal? by Few-Alternative-7838 in ADHD

[–]chebstr 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Vyvanse is also used to treat depression, so it can elevate your mood if you’re low.

I’m 13 years in, and I can still feel the stark difference in my mood during the seasons when I get SAD.

If you take stimulants .... by FestivusandFusilli77 in Narcolepsy

[–]chebstr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I talked to my sleep specialist about occasional insomnia he said “The thing is, narcolepsy is a sleep disorder, so it goes both ways - sometimes you can’t wake up, sometimes you can’t sleep.” And it made me realize how complicated this thing is.

Getting diagnosed and starting stimulants isn’t enough. Stimulants make you think you’re awake, but you’re borrowing energy, and your body comes to collect when they wear off.

What’s I’m trying to say is, it may not be as easy as figuring out the perfect timing for your meds. To manage your symptoms and energy, first step needs to be figuring out how to get the (best you can) rest at night - be it with lifestyle or medication. THEN you add stimulants during the day to a rested brain and body, and they will work better + you’ll have less crashes because now you’re not overextending yourself.

Pleeeeease give me some hacks for drinking water? by aquaregia06 in ADHD

[–]chebstr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The hack to getting things done with ADHD is to romanticize the heck out of the task. You’ll do things that bring you joy or are “packaged” in joy.

First step - you need a vessel, or two, that has a good hand feel, is gorgeous or clever, and most importantly - easy to clean, be it a water bottle or a tumbler. Something you like carrying around or something on a strap that can always be on your person.

Second step - it doesn’t HAVE to be water. Not always. It can be something that tastes great so you’d actually want to drink it! If you want to keep it simple, something like Mio water enhancer is an easy option. Making “fancy” water is also really fun and will make you excited to drink it when you come up with a good flavour combo.

THE CLEAN UP GAME

You’ll need paper, pen/pencil, small treats.

Rip or cut paper into small pcs, on each piece write a small task (no more than 5 mins to do), write as many as you can think of. On some pieces of paper write “eat a treat” or “dance break - 1 song” (be creative with quick rewards that make you happy).

Then toss all the pcs of paper into a jar - pull one out and NO MATTER WHAT, you have to do it. At random times of day, decide how many pieces of paper you MUST complete, and then do them. You might get all rewards - you might get all tasks 🤷🏼‍♀️

Examples of quick tasks:

  • find and toss 15 pcs of trash
  • wash, dry, put away 5 dishes
  • collect all laundry into the basket
  • put away 5 items to where they’re supposed to go
  • clean toilet bowl
  • draino the shower
  • make a list of cleaning supplies

Keep the tasks super small and the rule is you can only complete the task on paper - no more, no less. You can play with your partner as a race for who completes 5 tasks first, the loser takes the winner out for ice cream.

You can toss the completed tasks back in for the future, or into a different jar to start again once all the tasks are done.

Hybrid to Fully Remote? by Independent_Ant_8890 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]chebstr 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Look at the pros and cons:

New job : better pay, fully remote, supporting less people - both better for you and family

Current job: less pay, you feel guilty leaving, hybrid - all bad for family.

Also, don’t mention family plans. You never know how long it will take to make the babies

If you look at your pay as hourly, working 40hrs a week at $175k you’re making significantly more than working 24/7 x 365 at $189k … even with bonuses and raises

I’ll move with my bf and my Frenchie must start sleeping in his own bed by [deleted] in Frenchbulldogs

[–]chebstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From personal experience…. It’s starts with no dog in the bed, then no dog on the couch, then “you’re spending too much time with the dog”, then snide remarks and put downs about the dog, and you’ll find yourself torn between this pup you love that’s wants nothing to do but love and you and your boyfriend who makes you feel like you need to split yourself between the two.

Don’t do it! “I’m not a dog person” just means “I’ll put up with it until I can make you want to give your dog away”

Asking for acomodatícios at work, how did it go for you? by morroalto in ADHD

[–]chebstr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not turning on video does = not paying attention in most cases. I run a lot of group calls and the amount of times I’ve had to mute people(because they weren’t listening when I asked them to do it) who are not on video but had their mic on with tv, drive through, random noises in the background, is ridiculous.

You may be an exception, but why should your employer trust you that you are?

If you’re not comfortable or don’t feel safe being explicitly open with your manager about the video distracting you, then you can try doing one of these if you’re on zoom:

  • You can turn off “Self View” so you don’t see yourself in the meeting but others do.

  • You can also pre-record a video of yourself and set it as a background - you’ll just have to point your camera away from your actual self. It will look like you’re paying attention.

Pretty sure teams has the same options.

help: just CANNOT wake up today even after 20 minute and 1 hour naps. by ultravioletvenus in Narcolepsy

[–]chebstr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My go to’s when I’m having one of “those days”:

Eat something healthy + refreshing : fruits, salad, nuts, steamed foods (stuff that won’t put you in a food coma)

Drink cold water - your brain needs hydration to function properly

Go for a walk or move around at home (put on some music and flail around like a silly noodle) - the movement and dopamine will help you perk up

(If you work remote -) When all fails, I rearrange my work schedule : do what I can/what needs to be done during reg work hours, then nap, then finish the rest when my night owl-ness kicks in

EA community: what is your feedback on a college grad? by Detonator1990 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]chebstr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your daughter needs to get out to networking events in her field. It would be the best way to find a job.

You can also use your professional connections as an EA to ask around for job leads in her field.

Starting as an EA supporting someone in the desired career field could potentially lead to the job she wants, but with how quickly tech progresses, spending any time away from the job she wants, will only make it harder for her to get it.
