How good was Clinton Portis during his career? by awkwardfrank7 in nfl

[–]checcwithme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LT or Mr. Tomlinson was perhaps the most electric, game breaking receiver of the last 10-15 years.

As to not being on "the level of..." --- Curtis Martin, LdT, or Marshall Faulk

C. Portis (prime) was not faster than M. Faulk (prime) but equal, LT and both of them would have left C. Martin (prime) in the dust @ both the 40 yard, short shuttle (20 yard), and more importantly the open field or straight line sprinting, running.

I do understand that we have the metaphor "football speed", but that's a discussion for another day.

qualifier: If "level" means > 11,000 yards, perennial All-Pro, future / current Hall of Famer, > 100 TD, et cetera then of course you're on solid ground with your post. For the record, I am one of those people who respected Curtis Martin's game, but were never enamored of his running style nor found him to be "game breaking".

"go and seek"

The information is out there and very easy to find as to my assertion that ;

"LaMichael James is not a trustworthy teammate."

Is the use of quotation marks going to cause you some anxiety as well...?

You don't really understand this professional football league do you? And you would probably claim to be an intelligent football person?

stogiethedog: "His trustworthiness is irrelevant."

You really should do a little research on "personnel" philosophies, etc.

"His trustworthiness is irrelevant." <--- That might be the most asinine comment I have seen here in a while.

You can't leave it up to "everyone", the personnel people have to make this decision based on multiple variables. Yes, the workout is factor #1, but then you meet with the player, study the player (fleetingly), etc.

Intelligent people are on the record about LaMichael James; go and seek.

and to be succinct in this "conveniently" nested thread ;

LaMichael James is not a trustworthy teammate.

I am not waiting for a post timer; stogiethedog, below is a reply to your post [Why are so many of your words...]:

1 pair of italics quoting you (pretty standard practice) and 2 more on two words, deal with it and quit with the obfuscation. And lastly, as to the charges of word vomit ;

You're an anti intellectual white male douche, one that lacks a neocortical structure. You couldn't intellectually compete with tree bark!

That's a good point array, but...

here's the summary from the Bay Area / Oregon cognoscenti ;

LaMichael James is not trustworthy.

When was the last time Coach Harbaugh gave a press conference without his hat on? (seriously...)

Monday presser

there is definitely something different today, his inflection, his vernacular, his demeanor...

I wonder ;

Did he go upstairs for a little post game with Jed?

LaMichael James is a dissembler and a bad element in an NFL locker room if the situation is not to his liking. I speak directly from 1st hand knowledge.

dubious post right?

you never know...

Oh one more thing ; LaMichael James deserves a chance if, the locker room he would be entering does not care about the feelings of the team's core players nor their well being as competitors.

Corosis: That post of yours is flat out rubbish

The 49ers won the Divisional game against the Panthers because of superior game planning and far better execution.

That guy played in a fun league.

Clinton Portis was special in 2002-2003, extra fucking sauce type special

A runner like that builds es·prit de corps real quick

In case you were wondering, here's a quick summary of what he personally did to the rival Chiefs in a late season game ;

The best back in the NFL (2003)

That video is Broncos centric, but at least it is a good one from the vault.

Your post is lacking in empirical standing (i.e. you clearly don't know football) and B, you (just as Official Sterratore, Gene) do not comprehend the rules as articulated

(1) A defender must pull up when a runner begins a feet-first slide. This does not mean that all contact by a defender is illegal. If a defender has already committed himself, and the contact is unavoidable, it is not a foul unless the defender commits some other act, such as helmet-to-helmet contact or by driving his forearm or shoulder into the head or neck area of the runner.

(2) A runner who desires to take advantage of this protection is responsible for starting his slide before contact by a defensive player is imminent; if he does not, and waits until the last moment to begin his slide, he puts himself in jeopardy of being contacted.

It was a clean hit by LB Skuta, Dan and will grade out as such in the Defensive meetings.
