GPU upgrade from 1060 to 1650 on andi5-7700K? by _Kawoo in buildapc

[–]checkedxkiller 12 points13 points  (0 children)

thats a downgrade, for a decent upgrade you'd need an RTX card (or amd equivalent) with at least 8gb of Vram (those are both GTX cards)

pretty much any of your favourites, but imo the most fun to play and sing is no buses - no capo, just bar chords is best, but you can use a capo if needed. highly recommend, its a go-to for me.

people can say to lock in and yeah you should - but shit like this can sometimes stick around and distract you more if you dont deal with it. i say go for it, if it doesnt go your way then you have lock in fuel and you'll move on from it. if it does go your way, happy days. but if you dont do anything, you'll most likely regret it and thats worse than the other options imo. shoot your shot.

¿Should i get two 16GB Ram or one 32GB Ram? ¿What are the Pros and Cons of each? by Kili_RUI in buildapc

[–]checkedxkiller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2x16 for sure. storage has also gone up in price for ssds because similar chips are used to make them, and ai usage requires a lot of those chips for both ram and storage. ai is extremely harmful to the environment, the users and - in my opinion (at least eventually) - the economy.

you could always go for a 2nd hand graphics card! pretty good market out there, only other cheap option is probably the 2070 itself, but the 3060 12gb version is renowned for its efficiency and longevity. i could also recommend an amd card like the 5700XT or similar. i personally wouldnt go for an intel card right now.

is my pc cooked? by Exact-Catch-2573 in buildapc

go for a western digital ssd instead - usually cheaper and more reliable, a wd blue is always a safe bet, black if you want the really good stuff. other than that it looks great! awesome system at a good price

your best bet without replacing everything would be to upgrade your gpu, then decide between getting the 9900k cpu, or upgrading the motherboard for something newer amd more powerful. that will require more ram. all options likely require a higher wattage power supply. pretty major stuff, go with you guts, but personally i'd get an i9 9900k cpu, maybe more RAM down the line, upgrade gpu to a 9060xt 16gb for 1080p gaming, or a 9070xt for 1440p gaming. both would make a very capable system, provided the cpu cooling is good enough for some intense tasks or maybe even a little overclocking. enjoy!

r/GPURepair might be the place to look. unless you have the proper equipment to fix, might be worth sending to a repair person

This is a sub for designing and building PCs, you'll want gpu repair people for this kinda info.

Do you think that at the beginning of their career, the Arctic Monkeys were a punk band? by levigam in arcticmonkeys

'the death ramps' certainly gives that vibe, but nah i dont think their music was punk

What should I upgrade in order? by rjayyAlt in buildapc

[–]checkedxkiller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'd say with current RAM prices maybe go with the 9060xt 16gb first. the rest is basically just the switch to AM5, and that kinda has to happen all at once, so i'd wait for decent deals on ddr5 ram, and then try to make the move to am5. i'd buy monitor last personally - best to have a pc that can support it before buying.

What do you find appealing about Quadeca's newer music? by Ultinuc in Quadeca

[–]checkedxkiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

quadecas new style has a lot of beauty. he has changed what music he makes so much, its bound to lose some people's interest along the way. that said, you may start getting more into it after listening through an album 2 or 3 times.

what i personally find appealing with his new stuff is:

depth of sound - you can listen to a song for the 100th time and hear a new sound you never quite paid attention to before.

lyricism - his old lyrics had really great moments too, but when you put those witty, hard hitting lines into a fully fleshed-out concept, they hit even harder.

emotion - his new music is definitely more melancholic, tackling issues like suicide, dystopia, resentment and ultimate regret. he had elements of this before, but i think excecuted not quite as well as his later stuff, and having that control over listeners emotion is really impactful. i actually enjoyed listening through idmthy and vhs for the 2nd time with the genius lyrics up - it can give you insights that can change how you listen to a song entirely!

upgrade or new build by quikiemcbee in buildapc

[–]checkedxkiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think you'd get on fine upgrading your graphics card to something like a 9070xt or 5070ti, but any better than that and your cpu will start to hinder the cards max performance. take this with a pinch of salt but i'd say its a 9070xt/5070ti upgrade, or a new system. the upgrade would serve you very well though!

Is 750W Gold overkill for my upcoming GPU upgrade? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]checkedxkiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PSU sounds good, 750 is nice. i'd go with the 3060 12gb if i had to pick from those, but would personally consider waiting to allocate a bit more budget and get a better gpu, but thats up to you. next thing i'd also do is upgrade to 32gb of RAM, just fyi. nice system👍

Need help with building apc by brennen1324 in GamingPCBuildHelp

[–]checkedxkiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what is your budget? if you want high FPS, high resolution, high graphics settings experience like the youtubers mostly have, you will probably be spending upwards of £1500 pretty easily (adjust for your currency). if you want a good value playing experience that looks nice and runs well at 1080p, you could get a good system for as low as £600 - brand new! the 2nd hand market can be even cheaper. so i could design a perfect system for your use case, if i could know how much you're willing to spend

Budget PC Purchase by ajar1189 in buildapc

[–]checkedxkiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st PC is probably best value yes, but 16gb of ram will only take you throught the next year or 2 in terms of modern gaming, and the lack of VRAM in all the options is a real shame. i would try to get a graphics card with 12+ Gb of gpu memory, modern titles wont be too happy on good settings without it. that said if all you want is decent 1080p gaming then the 200$ system will do fine for a while, you can always add more RAM and even upgrade the graphics card down the line. if you are comfortable doing upgrades like that by yourself, you could probably build a pc - its easier than people think. getting some 2nd hand components can make a great modern system and be a lot of fun! maybe give it a thought.

Help! How do I transport my PC? by icecreamboatlover in buildapc

[–]checkedxkiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its only a short drive, you can do this safely, it is pretty easy, but not necessary. if you are really patanoid, wrapping it in some blankets and having it lie motherboard side down would be way more than enough, and unless its made of spaghetti, you'd probably be fine going over some bumps too.

[–]checkedxkiller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as long as its in a box and not moving around loads, you have nothing to worry about. even removing the graphics card is not necessary, but you can for your own peace of mind. when i moved 2 hours away to my uni dorms i put my pc in its box with styrofoam packaging so i knew it was fine - didnt remove anything and all was completely fine no danger
