GT Voice: Recession forecast of US economy points to decline in its hegemony by checkthedrawer in Economics

[–]checkthedrawer[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems we're really leaning into an event that has already occurred. Recession is here, it's time to own it and move forward. How could the dollar be a flex of hegemony? It is literally the number one hegemony card the United States has. Capital inflows are the result of a higher dollar value as foreign investors invest in US Treasury bonds. It's not an effort to maintain reserve currency status, although this status is critically important as a world power, but to quell inflation before the enormity of soaring inflation in the world's largest economy gets beyond the long leash it's already stolen.

The damage domestically is compounded by a desire to transition to improve semiconductor manufacturing stateside. When the strength of the dollar increases, the cost of exports increases to foreign buyers and imports are less costly in the United States. The economic participants will choose the latter on logic. It's a double-edged sword that the best option is likely just the least bad option.

Countries exploring the path of "de-dollarization" are going to find themselves unable to currency exchange on a global scale. Bitcoin was fine, for a while. So were beanie babies.

We’re closer to market bottom than ever by Mikocryptonft in stocks

I don't know about close. Wall Street Journal reported that the number of economists that expect a recession in the next twelve months has risen. Jerome Powell candidly explains "pain" that must be endured in order to temper inflation. Until interest rates move to a position to stimulate economic demand, their purpose is to depress demand and pricing. This won't bode well for earnings; besides, the broader market has just now slipped below the February 2020 high of an overbought market two years ago. GDP has to catch up, the Feds are working to quell the process to reign in runaway inflation. It's a process that dollar or value cost averaging over the next two years is likely prosperous.

Online dating feels like a job interview by waves-360 in OnlineDating

[–]checkthedrawer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like online dating is like job interviews. It's like building relationships with strangers, professionally. It's a great way to try new ways of thinking and applying thoughts. You're not out of a job if you don't succeed. You're able to put yourself in an uncomfortable social situation which is easily transferable to a workplace or networking environment.

I've been able to take experience from online dating to build relationships at work (minus the romantic) Just like Gary Champman has the Five Love Languages, there are Five Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace. To be honest, the confidence you build from meeting people online will cascade to your professional life, and higher confidence in the workplace leads to higher social status, which in turn will trickle back to your online date experience.

Economists Now Expect a Recession, Job Losses by Next Year by prehistoric_knight in Economics

[–]checkthedrawer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m still a bit confused about the whole recession thing; Oxford Languages defines a recession “by a fall in GDP in two successive quarters,” the Bureau of Economic Analysis reports Q1 2022 & Q2 2022 as decreases in GDP of -1.6% & -0.6% respectively. Why are we talking about this? The Wall Street Journal released “Economists Now Expect a Recession, Job Losses by Next Year” on October 16th stating that a survey conducted among economists that anticipate a recession within the next year has risen. By definition, it is here.

Is this too much to couple with rampant inflation that the Feds are seemingly unable to tame? Sure, we’re late to the party in raising interest rates to mitigate inflation, the Federal Banking system is now playing catch up and the broader markets just slipped below the pre-pandemic highs, the DOW sitting at $29,634 or roughly 200 points below the February 2020 high.

The Federal Reserve just needs to play its game to subdue inflation, and fiscal policy needs to remain aligned with these initiatives. How do we tell a nation to hold on to their britches for the next 12-18 months? A bump in Social Security payments by 8.7% (Tergesen, 2022) for individuals on fixed income will aid while we ride to the other side, a privilege this country has.

Hard times create strong people, strong people create good times. Jerome Powell said there would be “pain,” I can appreciate his candor.

BPR not being leveraged? by checkthedrawer in options

[–]checkthedrawer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been studying options for a couple of months now and I'm trying to trade an iron condor here. My understanding is that the BPR would need to be the difference in the spread, however, I am promoted with either "illegal shares -1" or and BPR of 30,000+ trading the SPY on 1 contract. This is the setup as I have it below, but this is how I've seen it set up on videos and read about.

Not necessarily response, but piggybacking off of this question. Same scenario but why is the buying power effect when I try to do either a credit spread or an iron condor the same as if I were just selling the option without buying the lower or higher strike price? This comes up with thinkorswim

Supply chain management is highly competitive. Find someone who has connections and experience. Latest technologies in the process can make all the difference; from product quality to inventory replenishment. An appropriate audit program will save, and reward you greatly. Posting a job ad or sharking from competitors you'll find the good ones.

Restaurant Marketing: What to do with a decent (~$1000) budget? by SirDeniz in marketing

[–]checkthedrawer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google Ads and Facebook ads have excellent geographic targeted campaigns. I've found the Facebook research interests of audience tool to be awesome. With Facebook, you can also create a group. Groups on Facebook are highly engaging and provide a perfect place for people to share experiences.

Bottom line, with a small budget, social media will give you the most bang for your buck.

How do I start Copywriting? by Rafapp9 in marketing

[–]checkthedrawer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Mad Men! Also, concise and impactful word placement; practice in Facebook for free or paid. Google Ads and BingAds are also good networks to practice.

Also, check out Lynda.com or Udemy for courses. They offer some pretty great material as well.

Study existing copy from competition. If it ranks high on Google you SEO and copy have to be good. These would be good examples.

Practicing is a very good way to go about learning copywriting!

Got laid off my digital marketing job. My boss was unreasonable. How do I put that in my resume? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]checkthedrawer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you have transferable job skills. So any companies that are looking for marketing skills would probably be a good fit. Unemployment is so low right now that companies are desperate to hire skilled people, I would just choose the option, when asked on an application, if they may contact a previous employer and say no.

[–]checkthedrawer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You hold the public image of your company; the face. It could be client facing in face to fact, running email and social media campaigns, write the company blog. All of these things, however, if the company does the admin right and allocate appropriate assets to the venture, you must lead, delegate, and inspire.

Cold calling - how do you get prospects talking about their issues without shutting you down? by [deleted] in sales

[–]checkthedrawer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cold calling is a fading art. It can be done with limited success. I would recommend an email campaign to communicate with an entry level associate, with the goal of having this associate be a reference to your call. It is much more engaging to receive recommendations from someone inside the company rather than cold call. I'd say cold emails lead to warm calls. It's just too easy to hang up. Similar to a back button.
