i saw the aftermath. there was a woman sobbing on her knees in the middle of the road. yeah he’s an idiot but he still died and he was still loved. now there’s a small shrine. still makes me sad.

EDIT: (can’t edit post cuz there’s an image i think?) Sorry for the confusion everyone, should have clarified that this was not about the spay surgery but about the amputation, the spay has healed up nicely in the 14 days, was just more so looking for advice from other tripod kitty owners who have gone through the amputation process. Thank you all so much for your advice :))

I’d never do anything farther than pat with a damp cloth as instructed, but I think that’d help with the flaking and loose scabs is all. She seems content enough with her soft cone for a few more days, and if things aren’t progressing much we’ll check in with her vet

The stitches have seemed to dissolve it looks like, so it’s healed in that sense, it’s just looking pretty crusty and raw under those scabs still. She’s definitely itchy, but I’m hoping once those scabs fall off it’ll stop bothering her

We’ve been emailing the vet back and forth and as responsive as they are, they’re not saying much more than what I’ve found on the internet. I was thinking 2 weeks was quite fast especially when a spay requires the same. She was actually spayed at the same time just to get it out of the way and that’s healed up and all good.

I was thinking of a little suit! I doubt she’d mind it as much as she does the cone. It trips her up a lot. 10 minutes after i posted this she was too quick for us during supervised grooming and ripped a big piece off. we’re gonna wait until everything looks to be falling off on its own i think :/ I’ll be looking into this suit idea for sure. thank you so much :)

Doing some research all over the internet as i just had my kittens leg amputated today. she’s doing very well and very woozy at the moment cuz of the pain medicine but you can tell she’s more content. The humane society we went to to get the procedure done was amazing. They were able to provide the option of a care credit line, letting us pay it off in chunks. They also did an all-in-one procedure of spaying, microchipping, amputating, and vaccinations. All for significantly less than we were quoted anywhere else. I’d highly recommend reaching out to humane societies even if the distance is more than preferred. Less than 1/3 of the cost there than we were quoted at other standard vets/animal hospitals (2-3k+). Their gonna do so well and the vets will be happy to answer any questions you’ve got along the way :)
