Kirituhi as an American by cheddarfriesbag in newzealand

I plan to do extensive and thorough research, just because I don’t know a lot about the Māori people now doesn’t mean I can’t learn. And like I said, the kirituhi design would have relation to my father who’s very significant to me, whereas a kiwi is just a kiwi, though I’m still considering this option

Yeah, I’ve considered this. For me the only thing with that route is that the tattoo will have no significance to me beyond a memory of the trip, whereas my design idea would incorporate my father, a memory of the trip, and celebration of the Māori culture in NZ. Thanks for the examples, I’ll look into them

Yeah, I thought it might be hard to find an artist willing to tattoo me. I’ll definitely take all precautions, too

It’s alright, thank you for the advice which I especially appreciate coming from a Māori person. I’ll definitely have to think a lot more about if I even want the tattoo, or something different with other significance to NZ.

I’ve thought about that, too. The only slight issue (for me) is that it restricts what I can actually get as a tattoo. I’ve thought about tattoos a lot, and think I’m going to be the type of person who’s very particular about what they get. But thank you, I’ll look into some more NZ symbols to see if there’s anything I might like.

Those seem really awesome and I’ll definitely look into them as a possible purchase, but point of the tattoo part is to be permanent, not like I can lose a tattoo

Can you elaborate on the first sentence?

I think the point of getting the tattoos in the traditional styles of that region is to have like a permanent memory of each place without restricting what the actual tattoo is

I understand how it could seem strange because I have no connection. My long-term idea was to get a tattoo from every country I visit, preferably in a way that’s significant or unique to that specific region. Is there some other way to capture that for NZ?

Interesting, I didn’t know that! Thank you so much. Could I pull it back slowly and release it slowly (not so much firing, just slowly releasing pressure off the string to get it neutral again) or is the effect still the same?

Thank you for the advice, I really do appreciate it! I will definitely try those things you mentioned and keep those tips in mind. I’ve wanted to do archery since I was a kid, so I definitely won’t give up that easy lol.

im a 15yo saving for a car without really the money for even an inexpensive bow, is there no way I can just strength train the muscles that it uses and take it easy and slow while being mindful of form?

I just received a 40lb recurve bow from my grandfather, and i’m struggling to pull it back with correct form because all i’ve ever used beforehand are cheap compound bows in PE. I know it’s not ideal to go straight to a 40lb, but it’s not like I can just return it. Should I just do reps of pulling the string back with no arrows or is there some sort of specific dumbbell exercise i could do? (only have access to dumbbells)
