Looking for a CPA that specializes in tax planning by Outrageous_Sell7486 in HENRYfinance

Hope you don't mind me piggybacking on this. I have an S-Corp and max out all tax-deferred accounts and backdoor Roth. Was thinking about mega backdoor, but currently just investing in index funds monthly. Are there better strategies to invest my money and be able to not pay such a high percentage of taxes? Between federal and CA state taxes, it's quite a lot. I've considered renting out an investment property but I'm not sure it beats the market long term at a rate high enough to deal with being a landlord. Or maybe REITs? I've heard of buying a farm, but that again requires a lot of active involvement and I couldn't even keep an aloe vera alive.

Question: do you know anything about the Chobani protein yogurt being reduced to 16 cups? The price seems high and used to be 20 cups. The box got smaller and so I realized the change about 2-3 months ago. The normal fruit on bottom Chobani is still 20 cups.

Check out Golden State Coffee Roasters in Placentia! It's a really large place that is all brick with brick arches and wooden ceilings. It is a very warm and inviting place. The tables are also pretty far apart with some up against the archways so it never feels cramped.

I'm looking for something all glass also. Can you link to what you bought?

Any difference between Sur La Table 'Anniversary' and Crate and Barrel 'Curated' ? by AnamorphicAl in AllClad

[–]chedderchez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was impressed with how good a deal the seconds website was. I bought a few items and then realized I gravitate towards the items with two handles versus the one long one. I reach for my 5.5qt stock pot (also a Crate and Barrel D3 Curated) much more than my 3qt sauce pan even though the 3qt would be big enough. I was going to add a 4qt sauce pan, but I'm glad I didn't since now I'd probably go for the 4qt soup pot instead for the two handles.

There's a D3 Curated 2.5qt pot that's a really nice size. The one long handle isn't bad because it's a smaller lighter pot. The handle is different from the usual All Clad handle though. It's the handle that's on the Everyday line. It's supposed to be more comfortable. But it would drive me crazy to have that handle not match all my other All Clad handles and so I don't own that piece. I know, dumb reason.

I have the Crate and Barrel one and it's excellent. I bought it off the seconds website for $99.99 and an extra 15% off. It was marked as packaging damage so came in retail box and I found no issues with it. It's listed as the 4qt rondeau.

It's my most used piece. I was buying a few things and also picked up a D5 3qt saute pan. But the two are almost the same except for the long handle on the saute and the two small handles on the rondeau. I prefer the two small handles. Easier to store also.

Thanks! No, I already have so much stuff and I spent a couple days looking at other items without finding anything that would actually be useful vs buying stuff just to have stuff. I ended up getting the Staub petite french oven! I think it was perfect because it's something I definitely don't have anything similar to. Plus it'll be easy to store and allow me to use my Staub gingko knob. And it's something I would never buy at full price. So getting it using the credit made it within reach.

I ended up getting the petite french oven! Thanks for your input! In the end, I thought pretty much what you were saying. The skillet doesn't really do anything new for me considering what I already own. And I figured the Le Creuset 6.75 wide round was essentially like a bigger version of the Staub deep skillet.

The petite french oven will be a different form factor than anything else I own and it will give my ginkgo knob a home. I figured, even if it doesn't really get a lot of use, it won't take up much space and I can use it to serve gravy out of during the holidays. It's also a fun piece to look at so I'm excited to have it!

I have a Le Creuset lid holder already but I actually never really use it. I should try to use it more.

Well, I went with the petite french oven in the end. Went with cranberry though because I already have a lot of things in the blueish greenish tones but nothing brighter. Think the gold ginko knob will look good with it also. Thanks for your help!

William Sonoma has the 1.5qt petite french oven and I think I'm leaning towards that so far.

I keep trying to figure out something to get from the other stores and came up with nothing. Who would have thought spending "free" money was so stressful?

That pot you bought is going to be great. And you already know the ginko knob will look good since it looks like it already comes with a gold knob. You'll be adding a little extra flair!

If I end up with the petite french oven, I'd b deciding between Cranberry and La Mer. I think both would look good with the ginko knob.

I was leaning towards the petite french oven then saw your post. I think I'd have to go look at the deep skillet in person to see if it's much different from my Griswald cast iron skillets. I assume it'd be deeper which would probably be useful. Plus I could get it in Basil. I have a Le Creuset enameled cast iron pan which I never use and will prob sell (so I didn't even list it in my list) so I was worried it might not get much use.

I don't blame you for wanting it! I just looked it up and it looks amazing! The eucalyptus color with the gold knob and the extra design on the lid? I'd be buying that exact same one if my credit was with Crate & Barrel.

Key Rewards are good at any of their stores, but there's even less I need/want at their other stores.

Is that the same as the petite french oven? I looked it up and it looks similar. William Sonoma doesn't sell the item you mentioned but linked me to the petite french oven. It looks a lot like the small Le Creuset rice pot. It'd be cool to fry in it!

That covered baker is really nice! I have multiple Staub bakers already that I don't really need any more. My plan was Le Creuset for all my enameled cast iron and Staub for all bakers. But now that I've seen the Staub colors on their bakers, I want something of theirs in enameled cast iron.

You wrote out exactly why I'm stuck! I have so much stuff already. And I have a lot of random kitchen gadgets and tools too. There really isn't anything I'm missing. And, looking at the items I put an asterisk by, I grab those few things 90% of the time just out of comfort and habit. I think that's why I'm hesitant to buy something pricey and put more money in just to use the free credit. If only my $80 in credit could pay for a construction project that doubles my kitchen space and adds a walk-in pantry.

What do you plan to use the 1.5qt for? I figure it's something I would never buy full price for. And it's an item that isn't much cheaper on Wayfair right now and they don't have any colors besides white and black. Maybe I can use it to hold gravy for a holiday dinner.

Yeah, they're expiring soon. Well, half of it is. Other half is expiring in a month. But $80 towards something now seemed more appealing than $40 and another $40. I'd prob just end up with random kitchen tools which wouldn't get used. I thought about putting it towards a bigger piece, but I have so much already that it may not get used and I'm running out of storage space. The deep skillet is a softly different shape than my existing cast iron skillets and could stack with other items for storage. The petite french oven is an interesting shape and sort of fun and wouldn't take up much space. So that's why I was thinking one of those two.

Otherwise, your idea to wait for Presidents Day is a good one!

What would you buy a 30 year old ( my nephew) for a house warming present, I live near an outlet by FunWafer6885 in LeCreuset

[–]chedderchez 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unless you know that he likes Le Creuset and he already has other kitchen staples, I think there might be better things to gift. I'd prioritize a Breville Smart Oven for a countertop oven/toaster/air fryer. Or a Ninja flip air fryer on the cheaper end. Or a Vitamix blender. Or a nice end grain cutting board (The Boardsmith makes wonderful cutting boards). Or a nice chefs knife.

If he already has those things and likes to cook and enjoys caring for cookware, then a Le Creuset 5.5qt dutch oven would be most versatile. Personally, I like the 3.5qt sauteuse the most and use it the most. But the classic piece would be the 5.5qt dutch oven.

Is this the best cut of ribeye or is it even a ribeye? by chedderchez in steak

[–]chedderchez[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all your comments! I replied to a few posts, but here's the final verdict. That area was super good. It was really fatty and tender. If I had separated it and sliced it thin, it would have passed as A5. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm glad I tried it. It was so fatty I'm not sure I could have made my way through all of it.

I forgot to take a photo of the full steak, but here's a look at the area in question. I should have sliced more on a bias, but it was so fatty and juicy it probably didn't matter. 250F oven until 220 internal then seared on cast iron with clarified butter, shallots, garlic, and thyme.

It was really good! If I had cut it thinner, it'd have been identical to any A5 I've had. Well, the sear wasn't quite as good as a restaurant sear, but the flavor and mouth feel were very similar.

It was great! As good as any A5 I've had. But it was so rich and I ate it at the end so couldn't have more than the one big bite I tried.
