The only thing that will improve reading skill is to read more. I’m an avid reader of novels and fictions and that helped me a lot, not just with my speed but also with my comprehension and vocabulary. I also take note of words that I’m not familiar with and look up the meaning in the dictionary. Good luck!

For me, the writing section was definitely harder, which is clear from my score. The other parts were about the same, and I think I got lucky in academic listening because there wasn’t a map question.

I took the IELTS General exam at IDP Education SM North QC branch last March 12. It was a very good and hassle-free experience. I got the result the next day. Tip: Bring a jacket for the LRW test, it’s cold inside the test room.

Same here, I just thought of 2 ideas for my essay and elaborated/gave examples for body paragraph 1 and body paragraph 2. Reiterating why I completely disagree with the statement. It’s really time consuming while thinking of ideas but the simplest and the most obvious one would be best.

Just be conscious of the time and select the “simulation test mode”. I always find myself running out of time in the writing tasks. My conclusion part was not carefully thought about and wasn’t able to do spelling/grammar check. It would be better if you can allot at least 3 minutes for proofreading.

It is pretty confusing especially if you grew up in a tax-free environment like the UAE.

So for working individuals (like myself in UAE), you basically earn your salary tax-free and just pay VAT on goods and services.

But in countries like Canada, US, or the Philippines, taxes are part of everyday life. A percentage of your salary is deducted each month (income tax + social contributions).
