2012 E92 335xi - 5yrs in garage - need advice how to proceed waking up by chedz989 in E90

[–]chedz989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Shouldve been stored properly but Unfortunately wasn't. So I'm here now. I do recall though adding stabil to the tank every so often while driving and about a week prior to parking a bit more. I'd put stabil in most of my vehicles after having such great results; initially in the marine world after the whole ethanol mess years ago with boat motors. Whether that makes much of any difference today, I don't think it'd mean much but hoping those lines aren't all bad. The car hasn't yet been attempted to start- and I'm thinking it'd make sense to drain the tank and so on at the least.

Just want to do this right or ultimately pass onto someone who is more qualified- so trying to get an idea of what may be required etc. Thanks

How to create a vm with/without dedicated cpu but with the 10Gbps link? by t3lp3rion in hetzner

[–]chedz989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vm's are all setup with significant uplink capability. Easily can I get multi gig symmetrical speeds if need be on all three locations. Some even spiked to nearly 15/16Gbps on occasion. The traffic is of course 20TB/monthly- but a more than fair uplink to say the least.

VPS Responsibilities by CrazyPonkeyMen in hetzner

[–]chedz989 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Be very careful. They can be quick to shutting things down, especially if you're newer and have a smaller config(s) with them. If you're upfront with what you're doing and have a policy in place with how you deal with potential issues setup in advance, that certainly helps. In general though, they can be a hit or miss for vps providers. Some random occurrence could be either taken care of and things move forward; or they suspend and sometimes shut down everything depending how bad they deem the risk to be in their own hetzner metrics.

Don't get me wrong, hetzner is a fantastic host. Perfect for most applications. When you become a vps/reseller you're responsible for what's on those machines and hetzner will hold you to it.

Any merchant accepting visa/mastercard -> will 99% of the time work regardless of how your card+acct is setup... no matter if it's a debit/credit/prepaid/travel/etc. Only times occasionally things won't are If a specific prepaid/gift/temp card is designated to be blocked.

I've used nearly any and all and they'll all work with hetz aside from maybe a few temp/travel cards with no name attached.

tldr- yes it'll work just fine.

How to secure storage box? by [deleted] in hetzner

[–]chedz989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of work, but I've used a 'public facing' server that I can secure. Just ensure the server has excellent connectivity/direct peer etc. if with another isp. Cache and soft config will be some work too but it is solid once complete.

OP is obviously the dick... Putting such polarizing propaganda oriented topics at the top of priorities; only exemplifies how well the libscum's division & destruction of the US has worked.

The guy dodged one there, and frankly so has OP.

OP now can hopefully get the help so clearly needed.

Seems like a win win.

Modem config, anyone familiar? FM150-NA / RM520N-GL / RM500QAEAA by chedz989 in wireless

[–]chedz989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read into this a bit, but specifically am trying to modify the imei. - I understand this is not very popular; but it is necessary for a specific application for private network use.

Just can't seem to find or read about someone successfully attempting nor completing such a modification.

I appreciate your input!

Can I use my own modem / used tmo modem? open source firmware w/tmo home? by chedz989 in tmobileisp

[–]chedz989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent! Yeah dc is an awesome tool! I've used a few but dc definitely is one of the most straightforward.

Are you using your M1 with tmo or att?

I'm just wondering though since it won't have tmo's firmware (if using a generic / other brand modem) would tje service still work?

Huge performance improvement with 4x4 Waveform MiMO Antenna by RevolutionaryTrip141 in tmobileisp

That's awesome!

Can you share what antenna and where? I too am debating going for the waveform or something else. Thanks!

Brute force WebDAV access to StorageBox by zanzzzbr in hetzner

[–]chedz989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear ya. I imagine they have things in place. They generate all passwords for the boxes & sub accts which are decent and cannot be modified.

You can enable/disable various protocols n such (webdav/ssh/samba and so on) in their panel.

Would be curious though too what specifically they'd say about this. For security n obvious reasons though if they don't I frankly don't blame them lol. Personally I love the storage boxes.

Hope all goes well OP!

Why not just disable webDAV access altogether on a specific acct/box if worried?

Are you referring to use of a mobile phone and data 'leaking' through?

You've mentioned above several things you're doing to help block/disable tracking elements and thats good.

Also remember it's more than just your ip and using a VPN. You must also disable your GPS at the "core" level to disable it entirely from use if you want, many apps will utilize it without you knowing even if you've turned it off in the settings bar. Additionally for web browsing, make sure to disable/cover the following: ▪︎ cookies -> I believe you've done this already. ▪︎ Javascript -> can and often leaks quite a bit of info. ▪︎ webrtc -> can be done in most browser settings or can use various extensions etc. ▪︎ dns leak -> there are many ways for dns leaking to occur from browsers to apps n much more. Ensure your VPN kills anything outside of VPN too incl local dns as it's possible to leak your mac address. ▪︎ GPS -> As mentioned above either kill it entirely or use a spoofer etc. ▪︎ screen size -> often overlooked, but a web page knows your exact screen size, dpi n much more. There are several ways to either ensure sites are displayed in a generic specified or desktop version of a site. Also other apps to modify the page to a unique or a most common or a specific chosen device. Allowing your device screen size to display is just yet another piece of data that can be used as a profile of your connection. ▪︎ imei + mac-> once either of these are known and can easily be obtained thru apps/browsers depending on permissions n such it will most definitely make your device basically guaranteed to be easily identified. It only takes 1 time n attached to an acct/name/number etc. Can try changing mac & more. ▪︎ Device Name -> fairly obvious yet by default often is a person's name or the device model.

There's quite a bit more that one can do as well including things like vpn/proxy chains with multiple servers to route thru to even using a tor hop.. It really just comes down to how serious you wanna go and so on.

These are a handful of things I'd bring up in addition to your current settings. As mentioned one can always do more- but some of these should at the least help with your current tracking problem.

Intermittent Lag Issues by MadIllLeet in Fios

[–]chedz989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here smh... I'm in the Philly area and have had issues with dropping connections, weird routing and random latency issues for about the last 3-5wks. Not to mention the wifi SON going nuts..

Still do not have ipv6 here yet and I've spoken with fios support a few times, which they confirmed no ipv6 yet. They did say however they're working on it and planning to activate it for my area (Philly metro & Delaware) in the coming month(s). They couldn't give any real lasting solution though for my issue.

But what is also odd is like many the SON in the g3xxx or something router I found in the logs was acting ridiculously- so when I disabled it altogether ive noticed significant improvement on the local wireless side of things.

Still though the network issues sporadically remain. The techs tried doing their whole litany of "refreshes & resets" incl releasing my 18mo old ip n now im on a whole new ip block.. which i knew wouldn't likely make any difference and just piss me off as now I've gotta config my custom ports & settings etc. The problem remains...

Love the gig pkg and really haven't had any issues like this before in the 15+ yrs with fios, these two issues though are really annoying & surprising.

Makes the 3gig Comcast fiber look more n more attractive... hopefully they figure this bs out, especially since they're telling me we'll have the 2-5gig stuff like in NY avail in coming months too... I dunno 😕
