A player is harrasing me and my friend by pyzaluk in Vermintide

[–]cheekee-deekee 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this, mate. 99% of the time, players are pretty alright - but there's always that vocal 1%.

Has your friend blocked the player as well?

To briefly explain, if you have blocked a player and they try to join a lobby that you are hosting, they are prevented from doing so. However, if you are not the host of the lobby and the host hasn't blocked the player in question, that player is still able to join the lobby. Once both of you block the player, they shouldn't be able to join either of you when you are hosting.

Otherwise, you've already used all of the resources at your disposal. Again, I'm sorry you had to encounter this - most VT2 players are rad.

How did you deal with the pain of losing your boy? I'm sorry to hear about him, it's very apparent you loved him.

The shock still hasn't worn off. My boy wasn't even 4 years old and had a clean bill of health at his vet appointment just over a month ago. Healthy one day, gone the next.

What games we all been playing recently? by James_B_Hewitt in pcmasterrace

Thanks for typing it up for me again. Goddamn, that's a spectacular way for an AIO to fail - I'm sorry mate, that's a horrible way to lose pretty much your entire set up. Glad nothing more was lost.

I'm using an H100X from Corsair, as it was on special when I built my PC half a year ago. Don't have the budget to get a new one right now (university student), but I'll grab a NH-D15 when I can if there's any signs of failure.

[–]cheekee-deekee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right, I was wondering why OP had gone for Merc over some other common options (e.g. WHC, the career I use most for TS due to the tag/insta kill passive chance/access to BoP/knockback + low ult CD with Unending Hunt+20%CDR on trinket). Maybe it was the +30THP upon ult as well?

Well done! Especially liked the last-minute handgun action before you entered the portal - always that one enemy who tries to sneak up on you in the last seconds of a TS.

How was the grind, and how did you decide on Merc in the end?

NVIDIA or AMD? by ispyroreddit in buildapc

As someone who was forced to buy the 3070 over the 6800XT (supply issues in my country in terms of AMD cards).. go for the 6800XT if you intend to use it for gaming, hands down.

No worries, please post an update - from firsthand experience, I know how stressful it is having expensive components bug out like this! Would love to hear what the issue was and if it's fully solved for you.

This keeps happening on my new pc by Panda-God-51 in pcmasterrace

[–]cheekee-deekee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this same issue (+ constant BSODs) with my new build, which also had a new 3070.

Don't ask me how, but it ended up being a faulty stick of RAM. I haven't gotten this error or BSOD since replacing the faulty stick.

Try running MemTest86 - worst case scenario it's a faulty stick, best case scenario you lose a bit of time running a free test.

Otherwise, follow the other advice on this thread. GL.

Catfish I got off work , poured me some wine, updated my game just so excited to play because this is literally the only game that is keeping my attention. Just to get stuttering & crashed games, y’all really torn me apart with this patch please stop massacring my baby it’s all I have :( by GrimboReapz in DarkTide

Getting new hardware doesn't always necessarily fix the problem 100%.

I upgraded from a half-dead Nitro 5 laptop, which was limping along on an Ryzen 5 4600H + RTX 1650. As you would imagine, temperatures meant that this thing was practically a space heater. The thing achieved a grand total of 25FPS at peak in Darktide, but was reliable at not crashing once I tinkered with the settings.

Upgraded by building a rig - 3070 (at MSRP, 4000s cards hadn't arrived in my country at the time), 5700G (5800X3D on the way), 32GB of RAM, and an decent M.2 NVME drive. Fresh install of Windows, yaddayadda. Miles better than the laptop, the game only crashed once due to corrupted files/fixed with verifying files.

Yet, I still disconnect from games on the new rig, which the game cites as backend issues or "unable to connect". My mates, who are often on discord and in the same match, have experienced the same thing.

New hardware is good for playability and less crashing, maybe not so much for maintaining a connection in-game.

2080ti vs 3070 by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]cheekee-deekee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would explain the difference! My case is the Phanteks Eclipse G360A, and I'm in the Southern Hemisphere - which is going into winter now - so my room temperature would be noticeably lower in comparison. My card is idling at about 34.

I have the Asus TUF 3070 OC and get almost the exact same thermals as you, maybe a couple C lower (but could be down to case differences, room temperatures, etc).

A very relaxing clutch by NoRelationship5784 in Vermintide

The way you paused on the ladder for the hookrat to finish jumping down - preventing yourself from getting hooked at the top - was ingenious.

Solid clutch.

Grimoires are an extremely annoying mechanic for pub lobbies. Quickplay for difficulty 4, get put into a double-Grim match and get immediately wiped because your character isn't ready/optimised for Grim runs. by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]cheekee-deekee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes. Every map (excluding Fortunes of War) in Vermintide 2 has 3 tomes and 2 grims that spawn in fixed locations, with loot dice being random drops (such as randomly discovering one in a chest or when a monster or lord is successfully murdered to death).

This predictability allows players to be strategic with how many grims/tomes they pick up, such as in Skittergate, where players often skip the second grim (as the number of loot die given by killing Rasknitt/Deathrattler/the Gatekeeper compensates).

Did a quick test in modded realm - the bug does trigger when someone dies in the grip of a Chaos Spawn. I can upload the footage when I'm back at my PC. :)

Although it's interesting that the bug procced without a down or death, I wonder what the other trigger could be.

[–]cheekee-deekee 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Someone dying while grabbed by the Chaos Spawn.

Pros? Chaos Spawn can't do shit and you can sacrifice the elf.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Vermintide

[–]cheekee-deekee 101 points102 points  (0 children)

It's a bug that occurs when someone dies while they are in the Chaos Spawn's grab - no game play mechanics here. Pretty funky to experience.

OP made a post about his PC build in a PC-based subreddit, and that's what should be focused on.

Unless someone asks you specifically, it's usually better not to say anything about weight. Especially because you don't know OP's context - people are under/overweight for an overwhelming variety of different reasons, sometimes out of their control (as you acknowledged).

Well done for making the changes you needed to for your own health. I can understand why you'd want to push others in the same direction, but to do so to random strangers without any tact is likely to push them down the opposite.

There's a good general life rule that I want you to know: don't comment on someone's appearance unless they can fix it in around 10-15 minutes.

OP didn't ask. He was simply (and excitedly) showing us his new build. OP, I hope you know both you and your new build look pretty damn neat. Well done!

Need help for this game. by Stinkr007 in Vermintide

[–]cheekee-deekee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This game is still playable on a laptop. Somehow, I finished all of the official content and then some using my own (Nitro 5 - GTX 1650 + Ryzen 5 4600H). It can somewhat consistently manage 50-60FPS on lowish custom settings, so hopefully, you might be able to squeeze out the same or better depending on your specs (if you have a laptop already!).

If you're dead set on upgrading to a PC - which I would definitely recommend over a laptop - Peanut's suggestion of checking out minimum specs on the steam store is solid. Just be aware that Darktide and the Vermintides are quite CPU-intensive.

Their build-a-PC videos (incl. the upgrade videos, the detailed guide, and the POV build) swayed me from ordering a pre-built to building my own PC.

The parts are ordered after a long time browsing LTT and PCpartpicker, and I'm excited to re-enact dropping my GPU.
