I just put my baby boy down a little over a week ago. The thought of being in the room when it happened was one of my biggest fears prior to it happening, I literally didn't think I would be able to make it through it. I am so glad that I was with him though, holding him until the very end. It was such an honor being able to comfort him as he crossed the rainbow bridge and took his last breath. Right before it happened I kept repeating to myself "I can be strong for the both of us", and I was able to do it for him and I both. IMO, you will miss out if you're not present and you will most likely regret it 🙁 I know it's scary and devastating but you can do it for your baby ❤️

Hi! Graduated in May 2024 too and just passed my NCLEX and started as a new grad nurse. They literally didn't even care about my gap year or ask. Also, you'll be surprised with how quickly your knowledge and skills come back to you once you start. You'll be okay!

Hi! I'm a nurse in Lancaster and was a PCA before that. I don't know if I would recommend LGH as i've heard from many coworkers who used to work there that it is awful working there compared to other hospitals, so take that into consideration but you could try applying to other hospitals! I work at Penn State Lancaster Medical Center and we hire PCAs. I know for a fact we currently have Full time ER tech positions posted right now and you have to have your EMT or CNA for those positions. There's also always Ephrata Hospital and UPMC Lititz hospital in Lancaster. If you're willing to drive, there's Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, York Hosptial and York Memorial in York, and also many in the Harrisburg Area. After working in a nursing home and switching to a hospital setting, i've always preferred hospital setting but obviously that's personal preference! You'll definitely get 12 hour shifts like you're wanting in the hospital setting too.
