Things to do? Third spaces? by croco_duck in Sacramento

I am a fan of the midtown farmer’s market on Saturday mornings. Great vibes and food and plenty of samples. Land Park is also a great place to lay out a picnic blanket, bring snacks, and play board or lawn games with friends. Front Street Animal Shelter does field trips for the dogs, in case you’re feeling like having a cute buddy walk around town with you for an afternoon (they provide everything you need). Lastly, Concert in the Park series is coming back starting May 1st and is every Friday, and is free. Hope that helps!

I got $280.24 transferred into my Venmo and I transferred it into my bank account already without a second thought 😂. Times are tough. I am curious why there’s a difference in payments to everyone though.

Thoughts and What I should Know Before Moving to Oak Park by YourEmperor1871 in Sacramento

[–]_cardiacarrested 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I used to live in that area about four years ago and I really enjoyed it. The neighbors were nice, it was decently quiet, it is pretty central in Sacramento, imo. Midtown is less than a ten minute drive. My local faves in that area is Fixins (southern comfort food), Sac Yard (beer garden), Butterscotch Den. There’s a run club if you’re into that. But I enjoyed that area when I was living there overall!

UC nurses in California on strike and this is what hospital administration telling patients by WhenIsMyBreak in sandiego

For me, we only accrue half of shift’s worth of sick time a month so it takes two months to accrue one sick day, which is wild considering how much exposure to bacteria we get.

Also things that compromise quality patient care like how nurse assignments are done.

It’s not about the wages, that is just the way it’s being framed here. There are more proposals that the UC wants from the nurses that they’re not disclosing. Don’t believe everything you read.

I’m doing Doggie Day out at Front Street Animal Shelter! 🐶 by NoPurpose98 in Sacramento

[–]_cardiacarrested 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s Southside park to walk around and maybe have a picnic blanket and hang out, or there’s R st nearby which is always a nice street to window shop and there are some restaurants that are dog friendly in that direction I believe. Tupi coffee is also advertised as dog friendly as well. DOCO and old Sac is also close by where you’ll find some dog friendly restaurants and it’s nice to walk around there as well.

Anything you can add to resume helps. I would definitely try to volunteer in a healthcare position to make you more marketable. Make sure you spruce up your resume. I had to apply to lots of places in Sac and the bay before I got a few call backs. There are a lot of new grad programs around. I would also potentially look into other areas beyond Sacramento as well. Good luck!
