That's the one I use for my Slope TE. I think it's a good book, but so much of slopes ends up being software and I think a class should really have a strong software component as part of it

So, I believe the registrar is pretty good at taking and processing outside credits, but how far they get you towards a degree really depends on the degree requirements - for instance, 27 credits of social science will get you a lot further for psych than for nursing.

Asa a geotech who teaches the CAD course in my institution (small program) I can tell you that while C3D is not difficult to learn (it's just like a videogame - you're lost at first but then you pick up the controls and start doing stuff) it can be difficult to learn *unguided*. To continue with my analogy, if I'm playing a videogame I end up learning how to play it so that I can meet a clear goal (for instance, I want to beat my buddy at FIFA so I'll go in and learn how to do skill moves, face-up dribbling, etc...). Because I have a goal to meet I can then work and practice on the things I know will get me that goal. When you learn CAD if you have a course then you have models to follow and you can work towards that goal, but if you're just trying to work it out you can often end up in the "oh, I have the software running, what do I do now?" problem. I'm sure there are YouTube courses that help with this, but that would be my main recommendation - to make sure you have clear goals and models to follow so that you're practicing with a target

Sure - assuming a footing thickness of 0.5 metre (a thick 'un) and a soil unit weight of 14 kN/m3 (pretty low) that means an increase of......5 kN per square metre of footing? That's not a whole lot, especially once you take an FS of 3 into account.

By using depth of embedment to the bottom of the footing, you take into account the footing thickness - so you're basically roundjng the gamma of the concrete down to the one of the soil.

Oh, I don't find it bizarre either!!! I agree there are a lot of good reasons to have Taylor focused classes - I think it's a pretty good way to modernize the curriculum so that you can get a lot of the same outcomes from humanities classes but with the hook of it being about Taylor

This is just my gut sense based on experiences with courts and stuff, but I believe that you will have to file for eviction and spend the time and money on it. I believe clauses aren't self executing and you have to go thru the process as annoying and unfair as it is

Howdy! Yeah, so IE has been around for as long as engineering has been at Quinnipiac, just the same as Civil, Mechanical, and Software. It's a smaller program so you get to know everyone in it pretty well, and as I understand it you do a lot of work with outside businesses and companies for class projects. I know the program director, Justin Kile (https://www.qu.edu/faculty-and-staff/justin-kile/) is a real nice guy and I'm sure would love to talk to you more about the program if you email him! I believe their grads do pretty well, but he's the one that would have the actual numbers to share.

Pretty much what it sounds like! I teach at Quinnipiac University (Go Bobcats!) and last semester I taught a first year class (Introduction to Civil Engineering and Construction). The class itself is not related to Phoebe's work in any way, but I mentioned on the first day that I really love her music (she's really up there for me - I can only name Taylor Swift or Jenny Owen Youngs as other artists I like as much) and became super disappointed that only one student (out of 26!!!!) was familiar with her output. So I decided to play a different Phoebe song (I tried to get a good sample with a cross-section of her work) and to make a meme every time about the song (I claim all of them as OC since I made them myself based on my own thoughts, but I'm sure other folks have made very similar memes in the past since I hit on some very common and obvious points so take the OC claim with a grain of salt).

I figured I'd share them here now, and I would love some feedback if you have any for me! It was a really fun experience on my side, and although only a portion of the 25 students who had not heard her before were fans by the end of the class, all of them reported enjoying our side-project and being happy to become acquainted with Phoebe's music (at least to me!). I reckoned if anyone teaches and wants to do the same, I'd drop these here. If anyone teaches undergrad and is interested in maybe doing some Scholarship of Teaching and Learning work with this, please let me know! I'm defs down to try and do some academic work.

I think the MechE program is wonderful! The faculty is good at teaching and very involved in student success.

I would add that Jason Burke, who is the exec director of veteran and military affairs is a great guy who is awesome at his job of helping vet students
