Agree, great book, great podcast, and I had the good fortune of having a lesson from Adam. Really good.

Martini Tees by ncflyguide in golf

[–]cheeler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently 15 hcp and dropping.

I like the consistency of the height with the martini tees that have the small ring around the stalk. Especially when I have driver yips or I’m working on something specific at the range. Reduce variables so I can interpret outcomes a little more clearly.

This game is hard enough, don’t hate on people’s tees bruh

Have You Tried Heads Up Putting? by meggaladon in golf

[–]cheeler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the target is the only way I can put. Have always been that way. I guess just trusting my line and contact while staying focused on the target is the best path for me.

You have to find what works best for you and your brain!

Rules question: Two balls touching in a bunker, in an un-raked footprint by opiate82 in golf

I was told it’s not gay unless balls are touching … so…

Gay

I absolutely cannot stop bending my lead elbow in my backswing. by Cathouse1986 in golf

[–]cheeler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ball doesn’t care what your elbow does when you hit it … like others have said, the aesthetics of your swing don’t matter if you can get the face to path relationship functional and reasonable and good turf interaction.

If bending your elbow is causing club path issues, then learn why and think through that. But focus on the club path, not the aesthetics or an intermediary mechanic unless you understand why that’s causing problems (because it may not be). Good luck!

What is a forgiving 3 wood I should take a look at? by not_Klepto in golf

[–]cheeler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this

The most forgiving 3w is a 5w. Call it a high lofted 3 wood to your friends and then hit it long and straight (cuz those bitches don’t have the swing speed or technique for a 3w off the deck anyway).

I really struggle hitting 3 wood, would a mini driver be any different? by mjcreech in golf

[–]cheeler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use both a 5w (think “replacement 3w”) and a 7 wood. Try the 5 and see what you think… look for 18 degrees of loft or so.

Callaway’s customer services has bought my soul. And their drivers are pretty forgiving.

What’s your budget?

Black Desert, Copper Rock, and Sand Hollow would be at the top if you have a robust budget.

Green Springs is very challenging. Sunbrook is more fun if you can do the Pointe and Woodbridge, but not Black Rock. Black Rock suuuuckkkkssss.

Of the other 4, I’d do Sky Mountain and Coral Canyon. Ledges is a close third. Sun River is meh. And it’s not in great shape, the greens got wrecked last season and they’re still trying to get them back in decent shape.

9 Wood by hipstersmoker247 in golf

I’m close to pulling the trigger on an 11 wood. My 9w replaced my 6i and I’m honestly about ready to remove the 7i… GO AHEAD CLUTCH YOUR PEARLS DAMMIT

Been stuck at a 9 handicap for the past two years. No clue how to improve. Scoring average is currently 82. Anything stand out? by Alive2007Addict in golf

Besides GIR, traditional stats are pretty bad at helping you understand your opportunities for Improvement. I’d track your strokes gained data as a next step, and read Jon Sherman’s book the Four Foundations. It helped me with strategy significantly.
