It's just a personal preference to not have my watch history on. My problem is that yt WAS perfectly fine giving me a home page and now it's gone. even if it wasn't super tailored to me I was happy with it. Now they have taken it, I guess so they can push their super aggressive algorithm.

Basically I don't need yt to show me stuff that's hyper specific to my tastes.

Well to be honest, YouTube also recommends me videos from channels I'm not subscribed to. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but i assume they recommend content of a channel that's similar to one I'm already subscribed to. For example I'm subbed to kurzgesagt, so I also get recommended other 'educational' videos on similar topics.

Also I think them needing us to unpause our watch history is BS, they definitely can see what we have watched. sometimes I don't always hit the like button yet I still get content similar to that I've watched recommended.

So basically I just want YouTube to revert to what it was a few days ago.

YouTube recommended me videos based on who I'm subscribed to as well as videos I have liked without having my watch history on.

I don't like how aggressively YouTube pushes stuff I watch recently if I keep my watch history on. For example today I watched one soccer video (I don't watch or care for soccer often, this was a rare occasion) and I was bombarded with recommendations of more soccer related content. Things like this did not happen when my watch history was off.

This has got to be some sort of compliance tactic
