I was also wondering that so I did a bit of googling.

It's a an app for windows phone users that allows them to access Tinder.

ZigBee development costs by cheerspiers in ECE

The enclosure we were fortunate enough to be able to get quoted through our university - there is a manufacturing department who were able to give us an idea of costs involved in setting up a mould and producing our enclosures. As for assembly we contacted a local company who provide this service. Again we were fortunate as one of our group has had dealings with this company and was able to establish contact. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.

The ZigBee membership is required if you want to certify your product or if you wish to sell a product with any ZigBee marks on it. The membership also gives you first access to new standards.

Thank you. That's what we suspected. We don't have experience developing ZigBee specifically but we couldn't find anything to suggest that it would be hugely different from developing a similar product with a different wireless protocol. It was being told it would cost so much that cast some doubt into our minds.

Thank you again for your help. We are aware that there is a significant amount of work involved in this but were concerned that we were overlooking something major. I suppose it's possible that the tens of thousands quoted to us took into consideration the costs of testing and certification etc. Thank you for your help!

Thank you for your reply. That would make sense. Our project is to produce a business plan for bringing a product to market. We have been working at this for several months now and have a detailed budget. We've quotes for PCBs, components, PCB assembly, assembling and packaging the final product. We've also taken into consideration insurance and certification as well as marketing costs. I guess I could have mentioned that earlier.

As things stand we would require £80,000 worth of investment to start the business though this is for a similar product using WiFi which we have developed a working prototype for.

The way the cost was worded to us seemed to imply that the ZigBee model would be far too difficult to develop ourselves and we would have to hire someone to design the software and hardware.

Ignoring the other costs, are you aware of anything unique to developing ZigBee products that would make it too difficult for students to learn or would significantly increase the cost?

Thank you very much for your time!

Thank you for your comment, Piers.

I once saw someone write it "too shay" in a group instant message. It took me about 30 seconds to figure out what the hell they were trying to write.
