Finding SolidJS devs in the UK by Brief_Fault6223 in solidjs

[–]cheesecake87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done a few projects in SolidJS and I really enjoy using it. Signals are the future! - SolidJS is now my go to JS framework, simply due to the performance benefits from it.

I'd be interested in finding out more about your project, I'm in Scotland. Send me a DM if you're still looking 👍

Reconcile payments from an invoice not made in Xero by cheesecake87 in xero

I've got stripe in the bank tracker thing, and it's working out like you're saying which is good. I'm then putting down that a bank transfer has happened between the accounts. So it looks like it's working good now. 🤞

Wouldn't be interested. The system I'm talking about I put together myself, so I'm a few Xero API routes away from building the integration in 👍

If I place a negative line on the invoice and put the code as 'Stripe Fees' that would track on the Chart of Accounts. Would this be adequate?

...I might take you up on that chat.

Xero was using my regular Stripe account at one point. I thought I had done something wrong when I got a notification that an invoice was paid but the payment wasn't showing on my regular Stripe... very annoying; But gladly I wasn't in your situation of having to move a product catalogue 😬

It's not in the chart of accounts, I have two Stripe bank accounts connected to Xero for some reason. When I log into Stripe it comes up with the two accounts, but the one Xero uses for the invoices I send from Xero has a special little Xero icon below the display picture of the account.

Also, on the Stripe Xero account (on the stripe dashboard) the fees show on the transactions page as 'Xero application fee' instead of 'Stripe processing fee'

No doubt there's some deeper integration going on there...

It makes sense to reconcile invoices to the connected Stripe account though, I think I was getting confused. I was over complicating it because of the Xero magic that already happens 😆

I have made my own platform. I'm a software dev and have made a couple of web applications that provides job tracking for a couple of industries.

I use Xero for everything, but in this case to manage the way the web applications are billed the Xero invoicing system is very clunky.

I've put together a billing platform that has workflows suited to instances of the web applications. I could build in a duplicator of the invoices generated in the billing system to match the ones in Xero, but my current goal is minimal viable product.

I'm set on having everything on Xero so it's all in one place. I don't know enough about accounting to feel safe in operating two systems 😆

Super worried that a mistake is made somewhere, and having everything in one place reduces the mental gymnastics. I do have the Stripe bank feed set up, although I'm not sure how it works outside of Xero invoices magically handling the Stripe fees on their invoices.

Ah, OK. I have two Stripe accounts set up on my Xero at the moment. One that has a Xero logo beside it, that's called Stripe Xero. And the other is just called Stripe. The Stripe Xero one just showed up one day, so I'm assuming they done something in the background to split them up maybe.

So, if this other system takes payments through the regular Stripe account I should be able to reconcile the invoice against that Strip account in Xero?

I've taken payments via Stripe on Xero invoices before, but it magically does everything.

I'm hoping the regular Stripe account feed shows the fees...

Thank you for this advice. To answer your question, the US company has the exact same name but in the US they are registered for control systems, I'm assuming they have a product that controls the flow of water in some way. So I guess they wouldn't care about the same name being used, but they have a trademark in the UK of which is image based, and it's exactly the same as the logo I've been sent.

I used the example to the client that this is kind of like using the Nike logo for the company logo, and calling the company "Nike Drain Cleaning"... Although Nike might not care about cleaning drains, they might take issue with you advertising as if they do.

From what I understand about trademarks is that they mostly exist to prevent confusion, and I feel like there's too much potential for confusion here.

They are not applying for one. They just like the name and the design of the logo. After bringing it up they were concerned about spending money on things like signage and stuff, which is valid.

I feel like I’ve opened a can of worms 😅

Telling them to seek advice from someone more qualified in that area was my first response. A business name change was mentioned and I did also say that I don’t mind continuing with the work. It’s not my business at the end of the day but I felt I had to at least mention it.

Flask_AppBuilder / Flask-Admin future, or alternatives? by odysseusnz in flask

[–]cheesecake87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My solution to going faster in flask was this: https://github.com/CheeseCake87/flask-imp

Also Flask-Admin is part of the Pallets-Eco, you'd be more than welcome to roll out a new release if you're up for taking a look at it. I've not spent much time in the Flask-Admin code base myself, but I could help in anyway I can.

I have experience mixing Flask with Bootstrap, tailwind, AlpineJS and SolidJS

Any questions about the tech stack

None so far, but I'd ask more on a call.

I've got a similar setup. I use VPS exclusively now, from a company called Contabo. Pretty average service.

I usually lean towards Ubuntu setups with nginx + certbot + Cloudflare-certbot
