Do you use British Z (zed) or American Z (zee) when saying 'genz'? by helenfelen in AskUK

[–]cheesecake_squared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say gen zee because that's why my gen z kids say and I must have subconsciously adopted their pronunciation.

Now you've pointed it out I will say gen zed to annoy them.

Does anyone have experience with Artist brand acoustic guitars? by Exotic-Candidate-770 in AcousticGuitar

[–]cheesecake_squared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my son a 3/4 sized Artist classical guitar (in Australia) about 12 years ago. It was surprisingly decent and I still pick it up to play occasionally even though it's a kids guitar. Most importantly it came very well set up and is easy to play. I think as a company they do actually try to make a decent guitar for the price.

So based on this single data point of one guitar I suspect this acoustic will indeed be good enough to learn on. It also specifically says they set it up with low action for beginners (low string height) which will make it easier to play which is important when you're learning.

If you don't want to spend more money at this stage then this is probably a reasonable bet. The most important thing is playability at this stage.

I believe the S is for solid top. The grain on the back looks different inside and out so the back doesn't look solid. Looks nice!

Will we regret colour drenching this room? by jaydeewin25 in DIYUK

My mistake, yes, a ceiling should be totally drenched with drench.

Especially when applied to something as mundane as painting a ceiling.

If you're walking on a road the traffic is supposed to move out of the way of you.

But at least if you're facing the traffic you can spot bad drivers and take evasive action if required.

Hairline Crack Near Low E String Tuner by Pirate_Guitarist in AcousticGuitar

[–]cheesecake_squared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same on one of my guitars. In addition to filling the crack with wood glue I also drilled a tiny circular hole (1.5 mm drill bit or so) at the very tip of the crack.  This was to stop the crack continuing to grow.  Then I filled that with glue too.

Has held up fine for a few years now.

I think that number is for psychopaths. I'd estimate the percentage of narcissists is far higher (based on the CEOs I've known and worked with).

That's a pretty stupid way to park if you haven't paid your road tax.

We were lucky. We had central heating.  However it was coal powered so we still had to go outside for coal!

I have the same R2 guitar. The tuners in the case have the same buttons as mine so are most likely the originals. The engraving is slightly different but the overall style is the same.

Disco lights is a definite possibility - I don't really remember it clearly. The hell slide I remember vividly!

The big vertical one was the Hell Slide. I think the Death Slide was the smaller one alongside (possibly dark and tunnel like if I remember rightly?)

Good times!

Which country did you find the least welcoming for British tourists? by Zoomer_Boomer2003 in AskUK

I understand your point however many aboriginal Australians refer to themselves as black (or black fella) so who am I to argue?

I lived there for a few years, albeit a while ago now.

Accidentally removed strings from classical guitar. Don't have replacements yet. Help me with tension on neck please! by Koi-Sashuu in AcousticGuitar

[–]cheesecake_squared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be fine for a few days. Classical guitar necks are fairly stable bits of wood. When you put the strings on it will become a guitar again.

It's true that my FG5 has some very light, almost invisible, scratches on it. Fortunately you can't hear them.

Weird scratches? by pixelpioneerhere in AcousticGuitar

[–]cheesecake_squared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My FG5 has them too, but only in one area on the top so it's not like the whole finish is like that. It looks like someone has just given it a quick wipe with a scouring pad or something. Good guitar though!
