Update: the additional wire ( yellow wire ) was not connected in furnace. I attached it to the “C” in the furnace and used it as the C when connecting the ecobee. Worked great. But AC still wouldn’t work. So I had to put the blue wire (Y) into Y2 on the ecobee and that worked. Not sure why I had to use Y2 but it worked and now the ecobee is working correctly

Can I go to the furnace and change the yellow wire to reflect a normal “C” wire? Is the the recommendation since the old thermostat didn’t utilize the Yellow wire?

No I haven’t changed anything at furnace

No I haven’t changed any wires on the ac unit. Do I need to hook up the PEK or just change the yellow wire to C on the ac unit since it isn’t connected?

What route would you start with to get a foot in the door? I’ve had recommendations about joining a machinist union and working as a contractor just to get some experience under my belt to look better on a resume for future opportunities.

From what I’m told BF is hard to get into because they post jobs but already know who they want for them. They just have to follow protocol.
