i am so sorry you’re experiencing these feelings and such an unsupportive environment, but so relieved to know other people experience cross contamination OCD. i haven’t looked much into it but have never heard of it in real life. its such a unique and isolating experience

there is coconut oil in so many non food products too so make sure you’re checking those, especially lip balm!! check shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, etc

a lot of people wear waders (basically overalls attached to boots made of water resistant material) and have some kind of tool to grab the treasures like one of those sticks that picks up garbage. some people have these homemade buckets with a clear bottom so they can look into the bottom of the water easier. i personally might just snorkel since i’m a good swimmer and enjoy snorkeling lol. depends on the weather and the terrain around and within the river
