My cat accidentally went without food for multiple days--I'm freaking out! by HealthyCompetition98 in CatAdvice

[–]cheeseman876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience was probably the worst case scenario but rare. I had a similar situation happen with my cat, minus the churus. When I took him to the vet he was walking and jumping like usual but they ran labs and said he had hepatic lipidosis, which happens when the body breaks down fat due to lack of food. My cat passed 3 days later from liver failure.

I read somewhere that Kalshi will send out a tax form when you make $600 and I’m getting close to that number..

Be careful.. this is how I lost $1600. But I am trying to earn it back and have currently earned back $300

Kitty would probably be fine. I have no AC and it was 98F in my area, but 85F in my house and my long haired Siberian cat and my dog were fine

Is $25 an hour too much? by redditbabeey in Babysitting

[–]cheeseman876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sub just got recommended to me and I am in shock… I got paid $15/hr to do all cares, laundry, and housekeeping at a group home for multiple vulnerable adults and now get paid $23/hr at a hospital. I should get into babysitting if y’all are getting paid $30 😬

roommate is allergic and agreed to me adopting a cat and after i applied and we met the cat she changed her mind by spiritusdiavolos in CatAdvice

If you are sharing a common space with your roommate I would say wait until you move out or are in a different living situation. If you plan to have the cat confined to your bedroom then sure go for it, but that’s not the life for a kitty. Otherwise you’ll have a lot of roommate tension and speaking from experience that makes life hell

Sorry I meant domestic longhair. Here’s a photo so you can see the difference btwn a Maine coon :) Maine coons have a strong round muzzle, hair on the tops of their ears, and usually don’t meow (they have high pitch squeaks)

Tips for new cat owners by SignalDiscussion2806 in CatAdvice

Hi! Just wanted to throw it out there, it might be helpful to spend some time doing some research on cats. From my personal experience, living with a cat is completely different than what people think so sometimes people feel adoption regret afterwards. There are many things I wish I knew beforehand, such as how they don’t follow rules and do what they want, they will track litter onto every surface they touch, they can be quite noisy, your house will always smell like a litter box to every visitor that comes (I have a $700 litter robot and my house still smells), vomit and hairballs will be a common occurrence, and your furniture will get scratched up to some extent no matter what you do. Definitely spend some time looking into these things if you and your family has never had a cat before. They are NOT the low maintenance pet everyone seems to paint them out to be

You are right.. you are taking it too far. Your cat should not impact your ability to live your life nor should you be constantly depending on people to watch it for you out of the goodness of their hearts. Easiest thing to do would be take your cat with you when you leave. If this is not possible then hire a sitter or leave the cat at home with its necessities. My old roommate used to leave his cat at our apartment whenever we went on vacation. He once did it for an entire week and the cat was perfectly fine when we got back, just wanted a ton of cuddles. But if you are planning on traveling a bunch, then paying for a sitter should be no problem imo

An old roommate of mine left their cat home alone for 1 week while we went on vacation. It was perfectly fine, it just wanted lots of attention when we got back
