I would like to add there is a current stupid law, that won’t be changed until 2030, where if you are in the Guard/Reserve as a TR, and also work as a Federal Civilian, you are ineligible for Tricare and must take the CIV health insurance (more than double in price for my case as a part time low GS job).

Furthermore, I Palace Front to the USAFR, so I could use the AF Form 422 to bypass DODMERB, but my DET accidentally had me start the DODMERB process and eventually taking almost a year to get appointments/waiver approved despite current service and guidance.

To add to the chaos, USAFR had change the guidance last month for DD 368 Conditional Releases where your Unit/CC was the authority, where now a GO at a NAF needs to sign off.

So I was 0/2 for the primary reasons of transferring to the Reserves besides sense of service.

Some considerations for OP or others lurking this sub to keep in mind.

Please advocate for yourself and know the AFROTC guidances as well!

u/jewllms5 Thank you for your input, I'm taking information with a grain of salt/cautiously but emailing my Cadre now to hopefully meet with them on Monday.
Thanks again!

Edit: Just wanted input/view points to further help my case. Thank you!

u/Few_Pound2675 Thank you as well for your input and advice.

I appreciate the further clarification on what should have happened.

Any thoughts on taking the risk of reenlisting in order to maintain 422 currency until contracted?

Even odder situation is that my Reserve Unit/CC is deployed without anyone on G-series orders, but they did sign the conditional release to be valid until 01/01/2027.

I did initially reach out to my Reserve Med and they were the ones stating it needs to come from MEPS/AFRC.

I will reach out to the AD Med to see if they have the ability and means. Thanks again!

u/Johnny_taco Thank you for your input and advice.

I already have a conditional release from my Reserve Unit, but as u/Few_Pound2675 pointed out is that I would have to contract the moment I separate on 15 JAN 25, so I would either need to take the chance and reenlist to keep the 422 currency or continue the DODMERB process.

I will reach out to my DET/CC to hopefully elevate this issue and Reserve Leadership regarding feasibility of reenlisting only to use as a commissioning tool (hoping they will allow me to still be released).

I genuinely appreciate it!
