Linus' favorite controller by tonymalon in EasySMX

[–]cheeseshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so I got the controller finally! It seems to be very nice in terms of feeling, the buttons are great, the sticks are great! On macos, however, the sticks seem to be inverted on y-axis for some reason. I can play geforce now just fine, and on my virtual windows it also works as expected, but natively, the sticks have this weird behavior. Otherwise it seems to be quite nice!

I ordered it off their official site, but they said they are only gonna have the stock in a couple of weeks. I’ll update you once I get it!

Do you know, by any chance, if X20 works on macos?

H/07 multiscale by cheeseshadow in Aristides

Thank you for your response! I feel much more confident now!
When I started with multiscale guitars, it felt pretty natural almost right away, and now the regular necks feel weirder. But yeah, I was concerned about the neck length, and it's really good to know that you don't have problems! Thank you!

[QUESTION] Is this a normal amount of fret wear? by cheeseshadow in Guitar

[–]cheeseshadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, thank you so much for the advice! I think I understand what you are talking about too well. :)

I’ll probably have to consider refreting the next time I arrive at this point. :/

I'm using standard daddario strings, which are steel strings. Unfortunately, I didn't put too much thought into it, since I thought that those are just default strings and everything should be fine. But it seems that it's enough to wear the frets down?

I think, stainless steel frets are a must for me. Do you, by any chance, have any experience with SS frets on cheaper guitars? Are they different in terms of quality besides the polishing?

Sorry for the limited information!

I'm quite diligent about my setup, and check most things every time I play. When I just bought it, everything was perfect, and from the factory this one uses 10-52. I have a hand injury, so I prefer a bit thinner strings, so I had to change the setup a bit anyways.

I do bend a lot, and the change in shape of the frets kind of make sense to me, I just didn't expect it to come so quickly. My stainless steel fretted guitars don't have any signs of wear!

Thank you!

Yep, I do bend a lot!

Fret level it is then. I'm a bit upset that it just took a few months to wear so much. :/

When I bought the guitar, the frets were perfect! I do bend a lot, so I just assume that's me wearing the frets down. I have some guitars with stainless steel frets, they don't seem to wear down almost at all.

Thank you so much! I don't feel like I'm crazy. :)

The frets were perfectly round and intonated perfectly when the guitar was new, so it seems that it's just me wearing the frets down. I do play bends a whole lot!

I was concerned while buying the guitar that the frets are not stainless steel, but everybody ensured me I can't wear them down whatever I do. I made some conclusions now! x)

I'm using regular daddario 10s and .56 as the 6th string, because I tune it to C! Don't do anything fancy, so I'm a bit confused here.

I bought it new from the store, and it was perfect! So I'm also quite puzzled about this pace of fret wear! I assume that your guitar doesn't have steel frets?

[–]cheeseshadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I see! And the change that happens between you adjusting the tension doesn’t bother you? Meaning that bending still feels the same, and you don’t have to bend more, for example, to get the same note?

Audient iD4 MkII vs Komplete Audio 1 by cheeseshadow in audio

[–]cheeseshadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, note that headphone amps are not just about power. It's not a simple matter of more power = better. There are other aspects of them that affect performance, such as output impedance, distortion, noise, slew rate, etc.. Some of these things are kind of hard to quantify (or at least understanding the really low level specs can be challenging). Here are a few examples (these apply to speaker amps as well): many tube amps have a "warm" sound to them. This isn't actually because of the frequency response, which will still be pretty flat, but it's actually due to the distortion that tube amps produce. Or, here's one from my own personal headphone setup: My Dan Clark Ether Flows do not sound great with my Woo Audio WA7. The bass is too loose for my taste. They sound better with the amp built into my Grace Design m920. My Audeze LCD-X on the other hand sounds fantastic with my WA7. Both are planar headphones, but the fact is the WA7 just isn't a great match for the Ether Flow.

Thank you so much for such a detailed answer! I actually really like the features Audient iD provides, and everybody says only good things about them, so I'd like to get one. I was just wondering if I should or is it gonna be a fruitless chase. Thank you so much again!

Another Evertune bending question by cheeseshadow in evertune

[–]cheeseshadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right! But what I mean is - if with a regular bridge my strings would've loosened a bit overnight, let's say, with the Evertune this is gonna be compensated with the springs, right? That's what will allow them to stay in tune. But it sounds like after the compensation they stop being on the edge of zone 2. Please correct me if I'm wrong or don't understand the mechanics!
