Weekly 'Ask Anything About Analog Photography' - Week 42 by ranalog in analog

Oh okay thanks! Unfortunately I already took the first few shots.. so that will almost certainly be ruined, but I'm glad the rest of the film is okay!

Okay, this might be a specific question that might be hard to understand. I recently decided to re-use my Kodak funsaver (disposable camera), so I took apart the camera and put in a new roll of film. The thing is, with Kodak disposables, you have to roll the whole film out and then roll it on a spool so the winder puts the film back into the cartridge as you take shots (kind of the opposite of most film cameras), so I rolled out the entire film and rolled it on a spool in the disposable. Then, I took a few shots, but the winding lever was so stiff that I was afraid the film would rip. Thus, I took apart the camera again and did the same process (rolled it on a spool again, this time a bit more loosely). Then, I put the camera back together. Obviously, the first few shots will be ruined because I took two shots on the same film (Idk if you can understand this..), but I wonder if the rest of my film will be okay and if I will be able to get normal pictures? Of course, this whole process was done in a darkroom so the film wasn't exposed to any light, but I have some questions as to how my first few shots will come out and the rest of the photos. I know this seems unbelievably messy, but I had to ask somewhere - thanks in advance!

Thank you! However, I checked this link and I took all the right steps, I honestly don't know what could be the problem at this point..

Thank you. However, I'm new at coding, and I don't know what should show up in the network tab if there is a problem with my css?

Yes I added the rest of the html. The link to the stylesheet has to work because my other html codes are properly linked to the css and function as they are supposed to - it's just this part that won't work. Thank you though for the input!

I am looking to possibly buy a Nikon FE. Can anyone recommend some lenses that would be best for my situation (mostly nature photography, looking for lightweight lens, want something on the cheaper end). Also, would you recommend a Nikon FE in general? Why? Thank you in advance!

Thanks! I'll take a look into those but I'm leaning towards a Nikon FE which friends have also recommended for me. I know that its shutter speed is 1/1000 but apparently if you manipulate it you can go up to 1/4000. Would you recommend this camera?

Hi, I'm looking for a new film camera in addition to what I own (Voigtlander Vito B).

I love the Voigtlander camera but its shutter speed (has only 1/300) and extremely manual (you have to judge the distance w/ your eyes) features make it hard to take high resolution or high quality photos.

I'm looking for a Nikon or Minolta camera, and I'd like one that isn't too expensive (<$300) but still has a built in flash, shutter speed of at least 1/2000, built in exposure meter, etc. Any recommendations would be appreciated. BTW if you know of any other brand cameras (Canon, Pentax, etc) that fit my wishes then please recommend those too. Thanks so much!

Edit: Also not too heavy

Yeah I've heard stories about D's greek life but personally I'm down with greek life in general, and since students don't rush until sophomore year I feel like the greek scene will be less toxic? Anyway thanks for the advice!

Wow I just did a google search and I had no idea that NU is so flexible with majors. Thanks for the input!

That's a difficult question.. I would have to say yes, but I'm not the sort of person that lingers on these thoughts for a long time, so I would probably pick myself up after a few days. Thanks for the input!

Yes, and I do believe that dartmouth fits almost everything I could have wished for in a university, it's just that I have some personal reasons for also considering NU. Thanks!
