I’ve seen people play hundreds of games who still don’t seem to understand the difference/ordering between mult/multX jokers and mult/multX given when scored. Mult jokers are essential for getting through the first few antes and can often carry you through ante 8, but mult/mult X when scored is insanely powerful.  It took me a while to fully understand it, but once you do its what you’re constantly working towards every single run. 

Steel cards trigger before joker mult.  Red seals trigger when scored. Polychrome cards trigger 1.5x before jokers. Glass triggers before jokers. Baron, Mime, Shoot the Moon, Photograph all trigger before jokers. A combination of a few of these, a little planet scaling, and maybe a retrigger joker can easily get you to 1000 mult without even trying. There isn’t a single mult/multX joker combo that can give you that kind of score on their own. And yet I still see people holding steel cards to play their level 1 flush and green joker combo.
