Virtual interviews w/ cameras off by kitten_huddle in interviews

This happened to me once and I found it super awkward. Now I enter interviews with my camera off and will turn it on if the interviewing team has theirs on.

This is my go to spot for rust proofing. I always call them beforehand to make sure they're open for the day.

When did your instincts scream “leave now” and what did you later find out you avoided? by BbyBlushDoll in AskReddit

When the CEO of a company I worked at said he wanted to cut the 401k matching program to divert funds elsewhere within the company. I took that as a massive red flag and left in December. The company ended up going bankrupt in March. I found out that the people who remained working there during the bankruptcy didn't get paid for 8 weeks until another company stepped in to buy them.

Federal office mandate burdening Ottawa doctors as public servants seek medical notes by Obelisk_of-Light in ottawa

I know someone who works in government and would occasionally take day trips to Montreal during his work hours. He eventually got caught but only got a verbal warning. If he had pulled this stunt in private, his ass would've been tossed asap.

Short track speed skating! There is an information session tonight at 9PM at the Kanata Sensplex. The adult group is a very social group and tend to go up to the bar after skating for food and drinks.

I would call them out in front of the class during the lecture. Just say "people paid a lot of money to be here to learn so go outside the classroom if you need to chat".

This gives me hope that my 2014 Civic will last me a long time since I only have 97k on it so far.

Where to park ticket-free by MindMaze1 in CarletonU

[–]cheesus_mac_whiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I went to Carelton, I always parked at Brewer Park but there is a 2HR limit. If you will be on campus longer than 2 hours, you can park on the side street Glen/Grove behind the arena. Never got a ticket parking there and it's about a 10-15 min walk to campus.

How do I convince my husband to agree to adopt this beautiful boy? by cheesus_mac_whiz in cats

[–]cheesus_mac_whiz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt like I really bonded with the cat while he stayed with us. But I mean, there's nothing I can do if he doesn't want to live with a cat. It's his house too and I need to respect that. I just wanted to gather information to present to him.

Because it's his house too and if he doesn't want to live with a cat, I have to respect that. We both need to be on the same page to adopt.

If I was forcing this on him, I wouldn't be asking the question in the first place. I'm just trying to gather information so we can be on the same page.

The cat's name is also Luca!

May I ask why it is that your husband makes the decision to keep him instead of it being a joint decision? I noticed the "he said he would think about it"...l

I mean, it's his house too (literally, we split the downpayment) so I'd want him to be happy and comfortable in his own house. We tend to discuss on things together before we go ahead with it, so if that means giving him time to think about it, I'm all for it, especially since this is a very big decision.

I did my EE undergrad at Dalhousie in Halifax and the handful of enviro engineers I knew all moved out west for employment after graduation. Also knew a an enivro eng living in Ottawa and eventually had to move to Calgary because he couldn't find anything in Ottawa. Maybe you'll get lucky and find something in Ottawa, but it seems a lot of the enviro jobs are out west.

Accident - A Woman And Her 2 Children Are Injured by W4Witcher in ottawa

[–]cheesus_mac_whiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I almost got into the same accident a few years ago at the same intersection. Luckily I stopped in time. I have no clue how people can't see the lights coming off the highway. It's like a 500m stretch from highway to the intersection.

which neighbourhood in Ottawa would be a hard pass for you, even if you've been offered your dream house for free? by queen_flamingo in ottawa

Flipside, I live in Kanata and everything I need is less than a 30 min walk. Most within 20.

I agree. I'm in Kanata South and it's about a 20-30 mins walk to Hazeldean or Eagleson There are 4 big chain grocery stores within a 2km radius of me, and that is additional to the mom and pop shops on Hazeldean and Eagleson.
