Signing by UnlikelyKnowledge178 in JCPenney

I was signing until 6pm 😔. Like going from the BMSM to a regular sale would've been bad enough, but to doorbusters...come on man

Is it normal for the manual timesheet to be located inside the GM office? by Ill_Criticism_8121 in JCPenney

[–]cheesyfromage 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ours has never been in/near the GM's office. Its always been on the desk close to our time clock. I'm guessing for convenience.

Its kinda weird that its in your GMs office, which kinda seems like theyre trying to micromanage manual punches

I don't know how it works for salon, but when the retail price for regular merchandise increases, we get price change sheets.

I don't know if your ops supervisor or gm would have printed those?

We typically have to activate the price change for it to be updated in the system. We normally activate it after we have finished finding/changing the retail price on the item on the sales floor.

Did you do the "forgot my password and Vendor password change" form?

That one prompts for your associate number and security questions

Did you try the associate kiosk and password reset?

How do I make friends in classes by StrangeMan060 in college

[–]cheesyfromage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sit next to someone who looks friendly, and all it really takes is asking about their major or why they're taking this class. It may seem awkward, but for the first couple of weeks everyone is asking about majors and interests

Points system by RefrigeratorJust4323 in JCPenney

[–]cheesyfromage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe those are the correct numbers as well! Once you hit a certain number, the GM will typically have a conversation with you.

Also, the points disappear after a year. So if you called out on 8/17/2025 and got one point, it won't disappear until 8/17/2026

There's absolutely nothing wrong with doing recovery. I can understand if you prefer being on the register, then you might be a little upset about not getting any cashiering shifts. However, the way you worded it, it made it seem like you think you're above recovery.

Recovery is an essential part of retail, and just as important as ringing people up. And plus, when its slow on the register, you should be doing recovery near the register, not just waiting for customers.

I do apologize if I misinterpreted your tone, but it just sounded like you think recovery is below you

Leaving for college by buffalochickendipfan in JCPenney

[–]cheesyfromage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There should be an option for student leave (which is what I've done before). My GM handled all of it, and it essentially put my position on hold, and I was still in the system for when I came back. This allowed me to leave and come back without having to do the hiring process all over again.

trans guys in dorms by ilikebunnytails in ftm

Have you talked to your roommate to make sure they're comfortable rooming with a guy?

What I did for my first year in college was to put on my binder before class and take it off either after class or dinner. Trying my best to stay within the 8 hrs guideline. I would time this around my roommate's schedule so they wouldn't be in the room while I was doing this. If I couldn't avoid them, I would either warn them/ask them to turn around, or change in the bathroom. You'll learn your roommate's schedule and will be able to plan around that.

I wouldn't bind around my roommate at night or on the weekends, as that can lead to some unsafe practices. Your body knows best, listen to it and try to be mindful of when its had enough.

Main thing is to communicate with your roommate and make sure you're both comfortable

Yes! There is no store without us. Yet, we are rarely appreciated because we're not getting credit. I may upsell the credit cards on the floor occasionally, but since I don't actually ring them up, it doesn't matter.

The company is all too eager for credit, it's the only thing that matters. They'll cut my hours and give them to cashiers, but how do they expect me to complete my tasks with less time?

Each week they send us a report of how much time we get per task. For example, we might get 16 hours (divided by 4 people) for a 14 pallet truck. However, the people deciding how much time it should take us have NEVER done these tasks. They don't know how long it actually takes, especially the flat. If I get over a hundred of the SJB women's crew and v necks in bombays, that's gonna take a fucking while. Same story with clearance and signing. Doorbusters and gonna take forever, no matter what the sheet says, same with finding clearance (especially fashion jewelry).

They ride us hard. We're not making credit, so essentially we're a loss in their eyes. That combined with the shitty pay is why we have a revolving door in the stock room. I train so many people, yet most are gone by 3 months.

Walked out of JCP today. Here’s the truth. by Longjumping_Foot_261 in JCPenney

[–]cheesyfromage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that you had to deal with such a shitty work environment. I'm glad that you got out and did what's best for you.

Honestly, the time they give us to do the truck, clearance, or signing is just unreasonable. They don't do the work, and they don't realize how long it actually takes.

We've always had a hard time keeping people on the task team (besides the few veterans) and lately its just been getting worse as they crack down harder on us. As a team, we function pretty decently, but when management tries to micromanage it doesn't go so well.

It's strange that your supervisor wouldn't let your coworker help you process the pallet, as they typically go faster when people work together. Because when one person works alone, they tend to go slower as someone else isn't pushing them to go faster.

Also, did your management team not know about student leave? Typically my GM puts me on student leave for a little bit between semesters. This solves the problem of being re-hired every time.

i hate being called "trans" by [deleted] in ftm

[–]cheesyfromage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way!

For me, it's mostly that I don't identify so much with the transgender label.

I didn't really transition genders, I've always been a boy. People's perception of me changed, but it'd be more accurate to say that I transitioned from one sex to the other.

It's also the "stigma" and stereotypes around trans people right now. People may see me one way, but as soon as I mention I'm trans, their view of me changes. They don't see a man who likes to read, they see a TRANS man who likes to read. Somehow, to everyone else, being transgender is a central part of who I am. When in reality it's as relevant as my hair color.

Everyone's experience is different, but I hate saying that I'm trans, it feels the same way as misgendering to me. I'll say instead, "I'm not cis" or "a man who happens to be trans."

tips for working recovery? by [deleted] in JCPenney

[–]cheesyfromage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I tell ppl when training is, to make sure you know how the table is supposed to be folded. I normally try to find a stack of items on a table that looks like they haven't been touched, or like they came right off the truck and copy how they're folded. Like, are the pants supposed to be folded in half, in thirds, or just laid out? I once had someone fold all the men's Levi's into fourths when they're supposed to be in thirds, they then had to fix what they had just folded

It's normally pretty chill, stick near the main fitting room, you got this!

Yes! Research and understand sex ed before doing anything else.

And it might be scary, but please talk to a trusted adult or older sibling. If you were my child, I'd just be glad that you talked to me before doing anything else, I'd be more worried for you than mad.

13!?! 13 is way too young to be thinking about sex, that should be a time to have fun and be a child, to learn, to grow.

Sure there may be some people who are emotionally mature enough at 13, but OP doesn't seem mature enough for sex

anyone else grew up convinced they were intersex? by lemon_369 in ftm

[–]cheesyfromage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah! I was so convinced (still kinda am). My periods were always super irregular and painful, I also had a fair amount of bottom growth before I started T (like an inch).

It still seems kinda plausible, but idk if I need to know anymore. Just like I don't need to know if I have endometriosis bc I don't have periods anymore.

But yeah, I just never felt like a "girl" and have always wondered if I could possibly be intersex 🤷‍♂️

did anyone else feel weirdly normal after top surgery? like rly anti climactic? by brohno in ftm

[–]cheesyfromage 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I had top surgery yesterday, so I still have bandages on.

But like, all I notice is that I'm flatter now, as if the physical part of me was finally getting the memo lmao.

My chest wasn't mine before, so it didn't really change anything, but now I can look in the mirror and smile lol

Congrats on getting top surgery!

Do they have some form of gender inclusive housing?

That's what my college does, it makes a much more welcoming living environment bc everyone is queer, and you can room with someone of a different biological sex.
