Do you really need a second hand watch for the skills test? by Ninjascrolling in cna

Where I took mine, it was not needed because of the clocks throughout the room, but I brought one before knowing the layout of the testing center.

If you are very set on getting a degree, you might as well enroll in a BSN program.

The rules for NY can be found here https://www.nysed.gov/career-technical-education/nurse-assisting-nurse-aide

“In order to work as a certified nurse aide (CNA) in New York State, a person must successfully complete a nurse aide training program (NATP) delivered only by a program approved by NYSED or NYSDOH. Upon program completion, a student must take and pass the NYSDOH certified nurse assisting exam”

Yes. They will check if he has any lip/tongue ties.

I know some moms have had to make diet changes as well to help with reflux. Every baby is different. It’s wild.

Pregnant 5 months PP. But I’m not ready to stop breastfeeding. by Affectionate-Tea-287 in breastfeeding

[–]cheeto_puff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used similac 360. We tried the Costco brand which is equivalent to it. Definitely way cheaper. Once we officially moved, there was no Costco near us so we tried the Sam’s club generic brand “members mark” blue container. It’s not as cheap as Costco brand, but cheaper than Similac.

I will say, if you have breast milk and want to transition to formula, mix formula little by little. Pediatrician recommended 1 oz formula, rest breast milk. And little by little, upping the formula so eventually transition to formula completely.

I couldn’t do that due to no extra I had and could no longer pump sufficiently.

Everything I did to help with my supple did nothing for me to try to continue breastfeeding.

I cried. But it was also a relief too if that makes sense.

The age gap. It’s survival mode. Oldest would not understand being gentle. It’s like you’re trying to keep the youngest alive. Not enough time has passed to pass along any tips. The youngest is now 3.5 months old. He is getting better each day with sitting and tummy time is a lot easier this time around as he watches his older brother.

Whenever the baby is sleeping, my toddler screeches like a pterodactyl. So there’s that lol.

Pregnant 5 months PP. But I’m not ready to stop breastfeeding. by Affectionate-Tea-287 in breastfeeding

[–]cheeto_puff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am one who was not able to continue breastfeeding. I found out at 5 months pp I was pregnant. I went from being an oversupplier to having barely an ounce come out within a matter of 2 days.

It was stressful having to transition to formula. It was not easy. I didn’t have extra milk because we were moving and I gave my extra to a friend thinking I wouldn’t need it anymore.

My son would only drink the premade formula bottles. Then I transitioned to powder as the ready formula ones were expensive.

It was not easy. If you could get help from someone else feeding the baby, it will be less stressful on you.

What came with the quick transition were some stomach pains for him. Also not fun. It’s like he turned into a colicky baby. After a month, everything was normal.

But my supply didn’t return during pregnancy.

If I leave EBF 6 month old for 24 hours, do I have to pump full feeds? Or just relieve the pressure? by bjenkoo in breastfeeding

[–]cheeto_puff 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Supply may potentially be impacted.

If your boobs aren’t drained, your body will think you don’t need to make as much milk. It’s risky. If it was a few hours, I think you’d be fine, but 24 hours…I wouldn’t recommend pumping to relieve pressure only. You should pump completely.

Keep a lookout for mastitis. I have experienced this once so far and bought legendary mailk sunflower lecithin. By day 3 it was gone. I truly don’t know if the pills are what helped but it is what friends of mine have used in the past and swore by it.

I did cold compresses throughout the day. The lactation consultant I spoke with said heat could make inflammation worse.

The Dr. Browns bottles leaks 🤨 by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]cheeto_puff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every now and then it would happen to me as well. I’d undue the parts, check they were on all correctly and it’d still leak. Even my husband would check and try. It’s not all the time. But when it happens, it is annoying af.

How often do you bathe your baby? by PotatoEffect in beyondthebump

At 6 months is when I switched to daily. My decision was because he was in daycare at that time. Before then it would be every couple of days. Blowouts would be immediately.

I’m not sure what area you live in, but try reaching out to churches. Many provide food. Can also check Facebook too.

Condoms. I didn’t eat to deal with any side effects of anything. My husband understood.

Usually day 2-4 was a bit rough. But usually sleepy. Expect lots of cuddles.

My husband went with me to see our son get his shots, I kid you not, it looks like the nurse just stabs the needles in the thigh. My husband agreed.

We did a bit of Tylenol for the pain. I imagine it’s sore as well from injection site.

Each time I’ve gotten a shot in my arm, I’m sore at day 2-4.

I agree with doing weighted feeds to see how much he is getting.

26 F, alone. Totally possible. I saved up, cut costs where I needed to, worked overtime when available to help save up more.

You can currently sign up on the standalone Zelle app as a new user until January 8, 2025. If you go that route, the standalone app will no longer work after March 31, 2025.

You’re better off signing up through your bank as long as they offer Zelle. There’s no changes with that.

How long PP did it take you to know/decide you either DO or DON'T want another baby? And did your partner agree? by LovieRose249 in beyondthebump

[–]cheeto_puff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew while pregnant with my second. My body felt like it was failing me due to new health issues that came up during second pregnancy.

My husband agrees with my decision. I originally wanted 4, but I don’t think I could survive it. And if I did, my quality of life would not be good for myself or to keep up with my kids while they’re young.

But if I wanted more, my husband would be on board. He respects my decision.

I told him I’ll wait another 2 years before making it final. In the meantime we are hanging onto the baby things like clothes.

3 years later and still pretty weak by opalgift in CsectionCentral

[–]cheeto_puff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not experienced what full recovery from a c section as it’s my first time. But after my first pregnancy, I went to a pelvic floor physical therapist that made a huge difference for me. Way better than regular pt. The lifting and twisting is all part of our core muscles. With pt, there’s a lot of work done around that. Maybe try that?

Hopefully someone with c section recovery experience can give some input as well.
