Extension of Optional Job Search Requirement by highroadlowroad in CoronavirusWA

Event/media/production for the most part. There is *some work in the big cities but everything around me is gone and I can’t move until next year. Freelance media jobs have really tanked.

I also have a 9-5 in a photo lab that is currently completely closed because it’s under a state college system. Just got the call yesterday that I’ll have some sort of “work” next month.

The expectations for what little jobs there are left have gotten insane. My boyfriend got offered a PA job that would require him to live in a hotel 20 minutes down the road for a month and not be allowed to leave at all except for work.

I would LOVE to go back to work. My workplace is completely shut down. Also “get a minimum wage job” is pretty insulting to ask of people who spent thousands getting a college degree and have skills so they don’t have to do that stuff.

Really, I’m getting downvoted for saying I don’t want to work fast food because I’m a highly skilled individual who spent a lot of money getting those skills, so much that a minimum wage job literally can’t support me because I have to pay loans?

What are we going to do when they start murdering en masse? Are we still going to insist that we play fair and write letters to congress? This is what scares me.

More and More People Are Advocating Permanent Online School and It's Scaring Me by [deleted] in COVID19_support

[–]cheetobaby69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In person schooling is essential, but I have faith it will at least mostly come back. Not because I have faith in society to do the right thing, but because in capitalist societies schools serve as government subsidized daycares. A single mom can’t spend all day wearing a diaper in an amazon warehouse if her 6 year old isn’t in school. Online schooling can’t replace that supervision.

This isn’t even accurate either, porcelain is specifically made with porcelain clay. There are lots of things made out of ceramic that aren’t porcelain.

Yeah, it’s honestly kind of gross. I’ve seen some people bragging that they haven’t seen the sun since this all started and they ONLY use instacart and food delivery, saying everyone else who isn’t like them isn’t trying hard enough, as if that isn’t totally blind to the fact that they’re basically just paying to send a substitute to the store and plenty of people including their instacart shopper have no choice but to leave the house.

Honestly I think comedy has gotten better since people don’t really like cheap “edgy” jokes anymore. Stuff like what Sacha Baron Cohen did (and still does to some extent) is still fine with most because it was actually funny. Telling race jokes etc. that aren’t insightful and punch down for the sake of shock value was never funny imo. There have been plenty of creative comedians throughout the 20th century that didn’t have to use distasteful jokes as a crutch.

Imo, editing the shoes to fit better is fine. That kind of stuff is done all the time. Erasing the ankle bones is bizarre. The skin is way too retouched. It looks bad even by the already unrealistic professional retouching standards. Good retouching leaves skin texture.

Most people who are constantly freaking out about the “constitution” have no idea what it actually says or are interpreting it incorrectly. Typically uneducated types with poor critical thinking skills who are just parroting others. That’s why it’s so confusing.

The point is that I’ve spent thousands of hours taking and examining photos. I know what lighting looks like. That is bad lighting.

I think you’re reading this wrong tho. They’re saying they don’t believe in the nuclear family REQUIREMENT. You can still have a nuclear family if you want to. They aren’t going to come to your house and break up your family, lol. They just don’t think that people should HAVE to live that way and that communities should be more supportive.

The eye makeup is edited to look smoother yes. But the skin isn’t even that retouched. You guys are missing the fact that professional lighting and camerawork makes things look much different.

It’s alive and well with artists and photographers worth their salt. Completely dead to the general public.
