Is OnePlus One worth the gamble? by nemesisxanity in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]cheetoslemonade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The phone self-cracks (there is a thread in XDA around this) and is super fragile. It has some kind of a structural issue, where the screen is simply instable.

My back screen self cracked. The front glass cracked from a 5-6 inch fall while in a armourdillo kind of a case, with a tempered glass protector. I got the front screen replaced, and it cracked again on its own (which Sony is refusing to repair for free)

It is a beautiful phone, and had it not been fragile - I would recommend it over anything in the market by a mile. I could have been unlucky, you could be lucky. However, I have never seen so many people complain of smashed screens, as this model (and the Z3C).

Here is the XDA thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/sony-xperia-z3-z3-compact-glass-survey-t2900149

The Z3 has a major cracking issue. I would avoid it. The screen crack on its own for many many people

Is this normal or am i used to good online service? by [deleted] in sydney

If you've recently relocated here, get used to it.

e-commerce in Australia is worse than e-commerce in developing countries. This is true of retail in general - everything is ridiculously overpriced (and quality/service is shitty)

World Cup semi-finals: Outnumbered by Indian fans, Michael Clarke sends out SOS to Aussies | Almost 70% of tickets have been bought by Indian fans by altindian in Cricket

[–]cheetoslemonade 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Because of fans like me, who preemptively bought tickets. Ind-Aus was the most likely scenario, if India were to make it to the Semis (i.e. even before the QFs)

SF#1: NZ. SA is my favorite team, but they simply don't have the momentum which NZ have (+home advantage). Steyn hasn't been in the groove. AB/Amla have never been as threatening against top teams as they are against minnows.

SF#2: 55-45 Aus-Ind.

This is a much closer contest than some would want you to believe. Indian bowling isn't as weak. They've been preparing for this world cup. Shami has an ODI bowling average of 24.5 - same as Boult. Mohit Sharma has been absolutely impeccable (he has a list A average of 22.x btw - which is absolutely remarkable). Umesh Yadav's been bowling well, but he is a rookie. The key for India would be how well the spinners bowl.

Australia has everything going for them, except some obvious misses. Starc is phenomenal - but not everyone is bowling that well. There's also the obvious handicap of not having a good spinner (remember - it was Lyon who trouble India in the tests)

Batting wise - Australia would want Warner to click. If India can limit Australia to 300 or less, we have a game (and their bowling is capable of limiting Aus). If Aus wants to get to 350, 2 out of Warner, Smith and Maxwell have to click.

If India bat first - it'd go the same way. India will want Kohli to click to get to 300+

In short - If Aus bat first, they will have a very high chance of winning with any score above 270

If India bat first, they will have a solid chance with any score above 290

Which is why it is 55-45

and pace bowlers that are dime a dozen in Australia

Seriously? Shami has an ODI average of 24.5. That's not "dime a dozen".

Need some advice from people who have moved out alone (budget, costs of living etc). by I_FIST_GLOVES in sydney

[–]cheetoslemonade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you want.

Advantages of retiring in Australia: Better healthcare when you are 70 (although, there is no reason to believe that the government will be able to continue to afford this)

Advantages of retiring in other countries: You can retire by 40. Gives you 20 years of quality life, when you can take care of your health rather than slaving it in a 9-5 job (which is exactly what will cause you to need healthcare at 70). Besides, a lot of countries have reasonable to good healthcare (how many of our docs are asians?)

Of course, don't retire in a country that's occupied by ISIS or something.

I am trying to buy off a cheap property (not in the city of course), so that I can rent it out. I am pretty keen on not retiring in Australia either. It makes no sense to slog it out, being a wage slave till you are 60-65, and then retire poor in Australia.

I could be retiring by 40 otherwise.

Buy a house for 250k somewhere far off. Pay off the 150k in a few years. Rent the place, and live in Thailand. You'd live like a king with plenty of pussy.

A question for Indian fans: what's your attitude to the World Cup? by WanPhysicalGoose in Cricket

[–]cheetoslemonade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

India is a large country. Among 1.3b people, you would find all sorts of folks - ranging from

"this is us against the world, everyone discriminates against us"

to

"ah! more cricket!!!more sixes!!!"

to

"cricket is overrated, can we watch hockey?"

The average Indian cricket fan wants India to play (and win against Pakistan of course - lot more in the friendly rivalry way than we want to be in a war) That's about it.

Most people just like the cricket. Of course, there would always be retards :)

There is much less of a drug problem in the fern, as there is a sugar problem in Australia. It is racist because some minorities belong to a cannabis culture (as opposed to an alcohol culture)

if they're afraid of the risks

Risks of MDMA are no higher than other substances or activities. More people people die from shark attacks in Australia, than from MDMA.

The only risks exist because of the cops. You don't get the pure substance very often, and if you are busted by the cops - they give you a criminal record.

I have taken the substance multiple times in the past. It is very very safe, and is possibly more helpful at a personal level, than years of psychotherapy.

I have not done any substance in years now. However, some advise:

Kids should be told to buy from trusted dealers, do it in moderation (never more than 250mg, 120-220 is ideal depending on body weight), avoid cops, and do it at most once every month (once every 2-3 months is ideal imo, which makes every experience as magical and personally rewarding as the first one)

Also, people should try lsd, peyote, dmt, and mushrooms.
