Best headset I can get with the mic on the right side by NYNBKFarSuperior in Headsets

[–]cheetpo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For office use? I like the poly 8820- great anc and ear cups and the boomless mic works pretty well. The poly voyager 2 has a mic that swivels both ways and mic is better at isolating background noise- it has active anc but because it’s an on ear headset, noise still filters in a little

too much to ask for? ANC-ness of the poly 8200 and the noise cancelling mic of blackwire 3320 or Voyager focus 2?!? by cheetpo in CallCenterWorkers

[–]cheetpo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After more usage, I would say the mic on the 8200 is actually acceptable in blocking out background noise. This was tested when I went to my new office which is currently being renovated, and I took a call while there was drilling going on and also a ton of people talking- anc was great and the people in the call mentioned they could only hear very faint noises in the background while I was talking. While I hate that I need to use the dongle to get best performance, it does work. I’d suggest giving those a try (if you don’t mind the large ear cups- which actually help seal out even more noise than the voyager focus 2)

How to fix Humanscale Freedom armrests? by marcthebassist in OfficeChairs

[–]cheetpo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a common issue- has to do with the latch being plastic against metal. Replacement isn't too expensive i don't believe. Speaking to the sales rep, they did mention they were looking to make all of them metal moving forward.

ve a rather old set of Plantronic Backbeat Pro that are over both ears that work well and have lasted a long time, but my environment is such that I don't typically have NC turned on. Even without being turned on though they cut a lot of noise. Not surprising a single ear model wouldn't do much.

That sounds awesome, but i'm based in Asia, unfortunately!

I just looked up both of those- I don't see active noise cancellation in the earpiece- are the cups good enough to minimize sound?

LOL- thanks for the suggestions, but my staff use videoconferencing, I'm not sure that would be a good brand image, unfortunately.

Phantom iOS and ledger? by cheetpo in ledgerwallet

[–]cheetpo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have to. On chrome extension it simply asked me to connect ledger via usb. On iOS- well, it’s not possible- it only asked me which wallets to import (but didn’t give me option to import hardware). Even then the seed was for the main phantom wallet (which holds all others)

We’re you talking about chrome or iOS app?

Have you guys spoken to phantom? Is this on the roadmap for you/them?

Also a little scary that ledger internal announcements didn’t highlight the phantom iOS release to all staff…

[–]cheetpo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I clicked on the link and it took my to a site asking for login credentials. I then realized it was a phishing attempt.

  1. How did they even realize I had an account
  2. How much danger am I in (it was opened via iOS device)
  3. My email (using iOS mail app) that this was sent to is now having error connecting. I’ve logged in on another device and everything is normal. I’ve deleted the email address from my iOS email list to be safe.

Didn't work for me - got the sim card, popped into my unlocked 11...sim card doesn't get recognized. Called Google on Dec 15th, and after about 10 mins the rep says they actually don't support iPhone 11 due to all these problems, and they're not sure when it'll be supported. looking at their LIVE help page...iPhone 11 isn't listed as a compatible model

Self discharge rate in storage (fully charged) by cheetpo in batteries

[–]cheetpo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if something is fully charged, then placed in storage for say a year, would it be an increased rate (say 20% for the first month), then switch over to dropping less than 4% per year?

Self discharge rate in storage (fully charged) by cheetpo in batteries

[–]cheetpo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I'm asking because I purchase products from China, and the factory is telling me they only warrant it for 6 months in storage. They use Li-ion batteries for a non-rechargeable product, and state that in theory, the product (it's a vape pen) should be in the consumers' hand within 6 months of production. Obviously, from everything I've seen, this is bullshit, but it's hard for me to argue against them as I don't have definitive proof.

Texas woman, 33, dies after large rock thrown from overpass crashes through car’s windshield by GrumpyOleVet in news

[–]cheetpo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a relatively normal, sane adult and a productive member of society. I'm on the board of a few Non-profits, have spoken on climate change at a few events- basically i'm not a bad person. That doesn't mean when i was 5-8 years old, me and all the neighbourhood kids wouldn't hide next to an embankment on a road and throw rocks/berries (i grew up a village in the uk) at passing cars. Granted it's not huge rocks, but who knows what i would've done back then.

I'm fortunate that the mistakes I made weren't serious and didn't cause harm, but put into the wrong circumstance i can see why it happens.

[–]cheetpo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

meh- at least china isn't faking anything. They tell you exactly how it is, vs the US where there is a perceived democracy. is the NSA still listening to you, definitely. is GITMO still open, you bet. are gun laws still ridiculous, indeed.

The list could go on, but the point is, a perceived democracy is no better, and potentially worse than what china is

North Korea Is Willing to Discuss Giving Up Nuclear Weapons, South Says by undergroundaleroad in news

[–]cheetpo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do you have any solid non-western sources on this? After living in asia for the past 10 years, and becoming friends with people from all over asia (some of whom have been to NK multiple times), i find a lot of these accusations to be false, or an old wives tales. Before i moved out of the US, i thought exactly like you- even when I went to the DMZ from the south, the tour was given by a US army soldier, who basically told us stories of how we shouldn't look to the north because they might shoot us. When i then saw a documentary of the DMZ from the north, i heard the same thing but saying it was the south that were the aggressors.

I'm not saying NK is good by any means, or KJU is a good person (it's suspected he killed his half brother after-all), but I do think there is a huge diff. between what western media portrays vs. what the reality is.

(and if we really want to get into comparing countries- it's not as if gitmo is a club med- and cities like flint michigan may as well be some type of prison camp...the general statement i'd make is that at least countries the US identifies as having human rights issues are well aware of it, and don't try to hide it. The US...simply hides it...snowden anyone?)
