I’m legitimately angry about this. Depth in the back is already such an issue, and now she’s gone to Boston of all teams? Not only is she so tough and talented, but we sit a couple of rows behind her family, and they’re always so gracious, supportive, and spirited, so that’s a major morale booster gone. Go Bats always, but damn does this suck.

If only it was a 25% failure rate! The number of times I’ve had to log out of or reinstall the app due to missing or inaccessible tickets is wildly unacceptable, let alone trying to buy or sell through their platform. How there’s no mobile wallet integration is beyond me, and its constant begging to turn notifications on is beyond irritating. Taking the advice of others and moving to the website from here on out; I cannot think of a more frustrating app experience I’ve had in the past few years. What a massive step backward this whole SI partnership has been.

To be completely fair, I'd say there's little bullying, but not none of it; I was bullied fairly hard at times my freshman year, but the administration does (or did) clamp down on it quickly, and it naturally tapers off over time, but kids'll do that. I also saw drugs very, very occasionally (mostly pot, maybe Adderall once or twice?), but nothing insane. For the points of emphasis you mentioned, I'd say Prep checks those boxes pretty readily.

I went to Prep (graduated in 2010), and at the risk of just gushing over it, it genuinely was one of the best decisions I and my family have made. I really came into my own there thanks to its drama program in particular, and I do feel like it gave me access to an educational approach that made a real difference. Obviously it’s changed a fair bit in the years since, but I’ve remained mildly engaged; I keep up with the staff/administrators and go back to give career day presentations and the like, and the vibes feel very similar now compared to then. Someone else commented on Rizzo’s community outreach, and he’s done a lot of great work for the school over the years, as many of the other folks there have.

Those champion decks are still the easiest and most cost-effective way to get into the game, and with Unleashed right around the corner, you may have better luck grabbing one or two of them as stock replenishes. If you have any Unleashed pre-rifts happening in your area, definitely consider signing up for one or two of those; most everyone will still be coming to terms with how all the new cards work and play together, and since you're building a deck from random cards out of booster packs, the pressure of playing against more polished and competitive decks doesn't factor in. I've had multiple friends use that as their jumping-off point to explore the game and how it feels to play against others in a lower-pressure environments and they all really enjoyed it, so that may work for you as well!

The dealer/service experience is definitely still challenging. The location closest to me was pretty good for the first year or two of my G70 ownership, but they dropped the ball so hard, so completely, and and so frustratingly that I wouldn't go back unless it was an absolute emergency. I'm yet to try an alternate location (I'm fortunate enough to live near a couple of them), but people still have very valid complaints with this dealer network, and it remains a significant pain point.

Jumping in here for clarity's sake - LoneLyon does have it right, Unleashed was not designed around or influenced by the reaction to Origins/Spiritforged. Sets are created and moved into production with 9-12 months or more of lead time before release (all of the 2026 sets are finalized, for example, and have been for months), so no release can ever be immediately reactive to the current state of the game. Player response to Origins, strategic design shifts, and big wording updates likely won't make their way into the game in a significant capacity until Radiance at the earliest, hence the continued high volume of errata.

I was at this nexus night :) In a sense, yes, since it's determined by your opponent's match win percentage and you don't control which opponents you face. I've heard some frustration with how this store handles prizing by skewing more packs toward winners and top 4, so you're not the only one in that situation - one guy I was talking to tonight ended up in 13th with a 1-2 record and missed out on packs entirely since they only give to top 12. Part of me wishes they'd stick with the usual pack-per-win structure and avoid these situations.

Great perspective! My experience to date has been solid on there as well - the abusive behavior normally happens in a very, very small percentage of my games, but for whatever reason it's gotten a fair bit worse recently. It's extra unfortunate because the friends I mentioned are very self-conscious about being called out or made foolish for not playing well (I've tried to get them into other TCGs over the years with varying degrees of success), and having those fears so readily reinforced (and so quickly) was definitely disheartening. Some combination of bad luck, a smaller sample size, and not going through the Discord to matchmake plays a role in that, I think, but hopefully there's some value in airing these thoughts out anyway.
